I recently made a purchase through the UR portal at OfficeDepot.com and it posted as a catalog merchant and did not qualify for the 5X office supply. My in-store purchases, however, have always posted as office supply merchant with 5X bonus.

I've had success in calling in and having them manually award points when an obvious business supply merchant doesn't post as 5X, though it was almost a year ago. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

I did contact them through secure messaging and they said they would make a one-time adjustment. I'm not sure they would continue to do it again, though, which makes me leery about making purchases through the portal and hoping to get the double dip.

Anyone know if you get 5x points at places like USPS, UPS, FedEx, and other shipping services?

Under the general category of Office Supplies, there are three sub-categories:
5111 – Stationery/Office Supplies
5943 – Stationery Store
5947 – Gift, Card, Novelty Stores

Do all three sub-categories code as the general office supplies?

5947 does not qualify from my experience.
5943 (which includes many Staples, OfficeDepot and OfficeMax) qualify.

I have no information about 5111.

Is there a list of online stores that count as "office supply stores?"

Hi All,

I have a few relatively big ticket items I need to buy for work: TVs, etc. I'd like to get these online, but I'd especially like to get them at an Office Supply store. I'm assuming staples.com, officemax.com, etc categorize as 5x bonus category places. Is there a list of other online stores that code as office supply stores? Thanks!

Sure is: https://www.visa.com/supplierlocator/index.jsp

I'd first start by entering stores you know are eligible: IE: Staples, Office Depot, Quill, Reliable Office Supplies, etc. Note the merchant category codes, since you know those will be allowed.

Next, clear all of the fields and under Industry Segment, choose Office Supplies/Stationery. Throw in a ZIP code and search. If buying online, try looking for where their corporate offices are and use that ZIP.

Some interesting results near where I am today:
Hallmark stores
run-down motel
few tourist trap crap shops
head shop(!)...I guess bongs are "office supplies"
used CD store
the GI department of a local hospital
car wash
soap & perfume store
candle shop
and a sex toy store.

YMMV... which is why I suggest searching known good "Office Supply" stores on that list, write down the 4-digit MCC# from those, and make sure where you want to order from matches.

Chase Ink+ and Uline: 5x points?

As title says, do purchases from Uline w/ Chase Ink+ qualify for 5x points (office supply stores)?
