I am aware of the benefit of the card. I have used my card plenty at OD but as I said in my follow up post I wanted CONFIRMATION from someone who had used their Bold card at Office Max that it in fact also posted as 5x. Card companies promise a lot but there are quite a few "gotchas" in them as well. Sorry if doing some due diligence gets under your skin but assuming things can often times lead to disappointment and long calls to various CSR.

Definition of "Office Supply Store"

Hi all.

For Ink Bold's 5x bonus, It's obvious that Office Depot is the foolproof stop, but is there an actual list of stores that can be defined as "office supply stores"? For example, I like to support "give-something-back" office products. not sure if they qualify! Or if anything bought online qualifies.

Any sort of list exist anywhere?

I'm sure I'm not the first to ask this, but I did search around.

You can always do a test for yourself. Buy something you need for a small amount, then wait to see if points post.

Several threads asking variants of this question have been combined. Please see this thread in the Credit Card Programs forum:

Staples - Bought Gift Cards - not listed as office supply category!

So I have an Ink Plus and I bought 5 $200 Visa Gift Cards...well the expense category finally posted to the account and it shows "Work Related"...not office supplies.

Is this normal? 5x points in jeopardy??

My Staples purchases have always posted as "Work Related" and I have always gotten 5x. I think it should be fine.

Somebody had a link floating around to the Visa merchant codes. Just type in the store name and zip code and you can see how the purchases at that store are classified by Visa.
