Chase application pending review [Consolidated]

Hi all, I'm new here and this is my first post. Wish I post it at the right place.
25th morning I applied the chase ua mileage credit card, and it's status is pending until now. Before I applied chase sapphire preferred and southwest on 9th and 23rd this month, which are instantly approved.

Based on this situation, do i need to call later next week if I haven't heard from chase or now. Does pending means unsuccessful application or just under review? Is it usual for application of the Chase UA card pending for a while?

thanks

Welcome to FT!

You will get a letter in the mail (or sometimes someone will call you by phone) regarding your application if you are denied. A letter will have a ref # and then you will need to call 888-270-2127 for the Application reconsideration dept.

As the above poster said, most likely they will initially deny you. you can call the reconsideration line and make a case for why they should approve you. 3 cards in one month is difficult from the same bank, though, so you may have a hard time getting them to approve it.

I would call right now and see what they can do. No need to wait for the letter. If you read some of the other posts, you'll notice that some even call as quickly as one hour after applying.

You are lucky to get the first 2 cards from instant approvals.

With your rapid fire way of applying cards - especially you are totally new to Chase, i.e. the bank does not know you at all, you will need a very good story to convince the bank WHY you need the 3rd card. Before you call them, get your ducks in a row, as well as be prepared if Chase tell you you can only choose 2 out of the 3, you know how to answer and the answer better not to contradict the song and dance you do for the 3rd card approval.

Having cards approved by Chase does not necessarily mean the coast is clear.

Read the latest horror story on this thread to get a glimpse on what might entail when people being too aggressive in getting Chase cards.

If you do call, be prepared for a denial. Chase, according to a credit specialist that I spoke with, only allows two cards in 30 days. I, like others here, am very surprised that your Southwest card was instantly approved.

Yes,you are right.they said I can only get 2 cards of the3 in a month. I guess I can't convince them break the rule. Is anyone can offer a good example to argue? A good reason for the third card.

If so, which should I keep,UA or southwest. Also, someone told me if you get too much cards approved, there might be some potential risk to close the accounts. I just wander if I cancel southwest, do I need to pay the fee 69 dollars
and next time can I get a bonus when I apply the southwest card.

Why would you even think Chase will break the rules for you? That's quite absurd. You won't be able to do anything about the third application. Don't waste your time.

Good advice ^. I'd been waiting for a week, every time I called the robot told me my application was still pending and could take up to 30 days. I tried speaking to an agent at the application number, but he said the same thing.

Today I saw this post and called the reconsideration line. The agent saw the pending application, took some information she said was missing (which I don't understand since I filled out the application completely), shifted some credit from some old accounts I'd forgotten about, and approved me.

I'm not convinced the 1 card a month thing is actually true across the board...TPG and others have reported being able to get multiple cards in a few months span...

If you have good reason (one hotel, 2 airline because you fly and stay at those places) then you're good. And since you were approved that makes sense...good job!

As long as you have something to deal with you never know what you can get. I just got off the phone with the Chase reconsideration line to get a Southwest card approved after getting a United Explorer and Marriott about 21 days ago. So 3 in 3 weeks is possible. I was pretty confident about the third one as I had my British Airways card to trade. Not a problem.

No appproval after two weeks - suggestions?

I applied for - and got approved for - Chase Southwest Visa and Chase Priority Club Visa within 24 hours of each other. Priority Club was instant approval; Southwest stated that they'd get back to me. I cancelled my Chase Amazon Visa and a day or two later was approved for the Southwest Visa.

Different story for my wife who has similar credit scores as me.
Wife applied for only the Priority Club Visa and still hasn't gotten a response; Chase states it's still pending. This morning, we cancelled her Chase Amazon Visa (never used).
One caveat - we put down a smaller income on her credit application than on mine. Should we have combined our incomes on the application?

Should I call the reconsideration line to get her credit card approved?

Call reconsideration. They may shift your wife's credit limits around to get her approved. Good luck!

I would have. It seems that you live in Arizona; it is a "community property" state. See post #1229 here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...l#post18523500
