Lived there for 2 months while "studying" abroad. Great little island, much better than Ambergris to the north.

NEver made it to Ambergris, but it sounded like Caye Caulker is the better alternative if you are not coming with a family

I stayed for a bit under a week a decade ago. Very laid back, nice folk, fairly cheap.

There's not much to do there but relax, drink, eat and watch sunsets. I did not see the sunset as I just made it a day trip. If you are in Belize anyway, I'd say go, but there are more interesting places in the word @:-)

Caye Caulker was all one island until it was split by a hurricane, hence The Split. I think the main activity is tourists watching other tourists evolve from sunburn to nice suntans.

I was told that the americans dug a little canal, just wide enough for a small boat first and then the hurricane widened that up!

I am headed to Caye Caulker for 7 days on 10/23.
I'll let you know how we like it! We are staying at Weezie's in the penthouse.

Thanks. That is one of the three places I was looking at in addition to Island Magic and Iguana Reef.

Can't wait to hear your report.
