Is there any way to turn American Express Membership Rewards Points into Asia Miles?

Also for members in Asia-Pacific region, ie HK, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand.

But not if your card is from North America or Europe.

Really ?
I didn't notice the announcement. I always transfer my AMEX points to Asiamiles.
Thanks.

For people in other countries, 100 JPY = 1 AMEX rewards pts in Japan.

Amex didn't really make it known to us.... I saw it in one of their newsletters and transferred some miles. The bonus portion doesn't seem to post immediately. I don't have the details but I think it was an offer valid through March 31 at least. I hope I am not mistaken.

In Hong Kong, AMEX is offering new GOLD CARD applicants 100,000 reward points (= 8333 asia miles) and then for an annual fee of HK$240, you can get 1 asia mile for every HK$4 spent (versus the normal $12 = 1 mile rule).

Citibank Cathay card gives $8 = 1 mile for expenditure in HK/China, and $4 = 1 mile for expenditure in other currencies elsewhere.

and this HK$4 = 1 mile is up to only HK$312,000 of annual spending...anything beyond HK$312,000 is back to normal, HK$12 = 1 mile...

for Citibank CX card, overseas spending, HK$4 = 1 mile is only for Platinum card...for Gold card it's HK$8 = 1.5 mile while for Classic card it's HK$8 = 1 mile (i.e. same as HKD/RMB spending).

For what it's worth, I found a way:
US Membership Rewards -> Starwood Preferred Guest -> Asia Miles.

It is better to get a AE SPG card than to transfer from MR to SPG. Think you lost about 2/3 of your MR points (1000 MR points to 333 SPG points) Wonder if you can have your account transfer to another country and do the points transfer and transfer the account back to US

just for the sake of completeness
in Taiwan 30 TWD (less than 1 USD) give you 1 Amex point to be converted 1:1 to Asia Miles. Because of the strong competition from other credit card companies, Amex has been awarding triple points for over 6 months.

No.
Can't transfer like airline programmes. You basically have to 'apply' for a new card in the country where you're in. Credit approvals etc have to be taken into consideration.

If only you could transfer points on a 1:1 basis from AMEX MR to Starwood AMEX.
