CX considering "SkyCouch" in Economy

Anyone seen the latest CX insight survey regarding new long-haul Y seat concept design? If they apply the same seat pitch to these new 10 abreast 77W, it will be horrible.

Note: I didn't start this thread, I was only posting in the 10 abreast thread about potential reduction in seat pitch without mentioning what the seat concept is. It was the moderator who moved the post to a new thread and put in the term "SkyCouch"

Let's just say CX loves following what BA does and isn't afraid to go above and beyond BA for these "enhancements"

Oh I like the sound of that! I would assume these surveys are for the 777 fleet at 10 abreast, the A350 Y seat is brand new and has been getting excellent reviews, would seem odd to ditch that so quickly.

That would be an absolute nightmare, especially for those on the taller side.

I better put that number in square brackets. Don't want to start a panic unless someone else's also seen a similar survey

CX considering "SkyCouch" in Economy

Just got an email from CX Insights (I kinda lied since I haven't flown Economy in years). I initially thought it would be about the 10-abreast but was surprised it was about rolling out SkyCouch.

What I found amusing was when traveling solo, you need to buy 2 more seats for you to use this, which clearly doesn't make any sense because PEY would be cheaper and it might actually cost almost the same as J....

Skycouch is a very good solution for family (a couple/ 1 adult 1 child/ 2 adults 1 small child/ 1 adult 2 children) travelling in Y, even with needing to pay for one extra seat, it will still provide with more comfy even compare with family travelling in PEY where you can't move the armrest.

It will also be great for pax travelling in Y at very light load, I would even prefer a sky couch over J bed for overnight flight, of course with access to Pier F before boarding.

Just read somewhere else, 28 inches refer to the width of the 'skycouch'.

I've seen the image and it did state a certain dimension but this may have been a typo / in error as the dimensions per Air NZ are:

The number being mentioned is the in-seat area. So seat pitch will be that number plus width of your seat back. My guesstimate is somewhere between new BA A320 seat pitch and Ryanair's 737-800 seat pitch.

It's for long-haul Y. Believe the 10 abreast 777s are for regional flights?
