Not OW but CX
Wife is travelling J Mnl to Hkg Sunday evening then 4 hours later Hkg to Lhr - but on separate PNR's.
Any recent experiences on chance of checking baggage through and connecting PNR's.
This used to be a given - but reading horror stories recently.
Thanks for any input.

You’re safe with a single booking
The revised rules don’t apply to travellers with multiple flights listed under a single booking (even a booking which includes several individual tickets, as can be created by a skilled travel agent), who can continue to be checked-in for their final destination at the start of the journey.

Hmmm. I always thought this was nothing new. I've been doing this for some time knowing the airlines won't touch separate tickets.

This is going to be a real pain for award redemptions, where you could previously get round the lack of availability for a connecting short haul leg by buying a separate cash ticket for that leg e.g. travelling to Montreal last month, I got an AM J ticket to JFK then bought a connecting AA ticket for the short haul from JFK to Montreal. Now we'll have to factor in much longer connecting times to do something like that.

I just found this on the CX Agents website, updated on 1 June 2016:
http://www.cxagents.com/cxa/gc/en_HK/ln2
The following is noted that CX won't through check-in in this scenario:
http://www.cxagents.com/cxa/gc/en_HK/ln2
The following is noted that CX won't through check-in in this scenario:
c. Two tickets for the journey in two different PNRs (regardless of travelling carriers),
e.g.:
FCO-LHR – tkt nbr xxxxx123
LHR-WAS - tkt nbr xxxxx124
Two separate PNRs : AB12CD and EF34GH
e.g.:
FCO-LHR – tkt nbr xxxxx123
LHR-WAS - tkt nbr xxxxx124
Two separate PNRs : AB12CD and EF34GH
Please remind passengers opting to travel on two tickets that additional connecting time at their transfer point might be required as they will be required to re-check in either after landing or at the transfer point depends on each airport’s set up and facilities. Landing visa for transfer point might also be required.

The only way for interline itinerary such as DOH (QR/EK) DXB (CX) Destination is through a travel agent? With all the changes, probably have to consider other options.

There are many circumstances where you can interline baggage even though you can't through check in (i.e. your bags are tagged through to your final destination, but you have to check in again and pick up your next boarding pass at the intermediate point).
Is there anything in CXAgents which specifically says they won't now interline baggage on separate tickets as well? (which I've done many times even between CX and non-OW airlines).
