...Cathay has re-launched a new version of its Business Class product in December 2010. These seats are licensed on the Sicma Aero Cirrus design and will launch in 2011. The Cirrus seats will be fitted on all of Cathay's long-haul A330-300 aircraft and B777-300ER aircraft. At this stage, presumably due to their impending retirement, there has been no official announcement about retrofitting B747-400 and A340-300 aircraft with the Cirrus product...

...This is all the information we currently have on deployment. Please do not ask whether your flight XXX on whatever date will be operated by a Cirrus aircraft. This information is readily ascertainable by checking your booking online or doing a dummy booking and looking at the seat map .... We reiterate that Cathay are well-reknowned for last-minute aircraft substitutions

First reported on this site in the regular “Stop Press” feature on 07FEB11, Cathay Pacific’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featuring the brand new Business Class seats and inflight products is to enter service to Vancouver and New York JFK starting May 2011.
Planned new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operation, shown as “77W” in GDS availability and timetable display, “77D” in Cathay Pacific’s inventory display and website, as follows. Note these specifically mentioned flights and dates are subject to further changes:

Makes sense. JFK is the longest route in the network. But I feel sorry for myself and the others who have to endure 15 plus hours of pain in Y since a new Y class has not been announced!

what does day x247, x24 etc. mean? Also sucks for someone flying on CX 840 and flying in May and not on CX 830! I bet there alot of J passengers on the other CX flight's in May who will try to switch over to CX 830 and rightfully so.

ORD as well!
Just got an email from my brother's TA office that states CX806/807 to operate as HKG-ORD-HKG will be operated by the 77D with the new business class between Sep 1-Oct 29 according to schedules displayed on his SABRE system. Of course this information is subject to change at a later stage and as always a last minute a/c substitution is possible.

Wonder when they will have the 77D schedule for HKG-LAX, just checked CX site, the schedule still show all 77A.

It'll be good to refer the 777-300ER as 77W. CX is the only airline to just call it the 773 just like their other regional 773 aircraft and it confuses many people. The only way to know which is which is to see if the aircraft has First Class on it as only the 777-300ER has a F cabin.
Now it'll even have been more confusing between the 773 (long haul) and the 77W (new J) if not for the new designator.
But am glad to see that YVR gets the new product first!

Hi I'm new to this forum. Just wanna say that looks like starting from 03MAY, Cathay is using 77D on HKGNRT CX520 and 521 flights on Tuesdays, just like what was said above. Just checked my booking today and saw the aircraft changed from 77A to 77D. But like always, Cathay does have their infamous record of last minute aircraft changes, hopefully it won't happen.

Quick question, how many 77D are Cathay introducing in May? Because from what I'm seeing, Cathay is flying CX888 to and CX841 back from JFK on Sundays, which, if I'm correct, 841 gets to HKG on Monday at 14-ish. But at the same time, CX830 on Mondays to JFK is also a 77D which departs HKG at 9-ish, which has to mean Cathay is introducing 2 77Ds in May? I don't know if that makes sense at all.
