Also explains why the user on #761 mentioned his JNB flight was showing 777-300ER, because that was also a default schedule.
What's interesting is, that until about 24 hours before I posted (in other words until about 1200 Hong Kong time on Wednesday 17 October, or 2100 North American Pacific time on Tuesday, 16 October), the default summer 2013 schedules for 838/837 were 3x weekly 77G and 4x weekly 744; the default summer 2013 schedules for 884/885 were 77D/77H, the default summer 2013 schedules for 257/256 were the winter 744/343/77D-H mix, and the default summer 2013 schedules for JNB were the 77D/744 mix.

Thursday in Hong Kong, Wednesday in North America it changed; I posted; then it changed again -- very, very quickly after the first change.

Most confusing. But you caught the second set of changes, and that's what's important.

CX doesn't change the schedule twice in one day for the same route/flight unless there are obvious discrepancies/errors.

of course, more changes to come as expected.

Okay CX is gettin 5 a330 this year, 2 have already been delivered and 2 old ones will go to Dragonair, this means that there is a net growth of 3 a330's,where are these extra aircraft being used?

I do not think it takes 3 A330 to start a service to Hyderabad

by the way, you should take note that 1 330 is still under repairment (B-HLG).. it is out of order since 21/07/2012 and it is still unsure whether it can be repaired or not

and B-LAA, B-LAB shall be transferred to KA later next year

This is not what CX is doing, but for me the following would make sense:
B-HL* - either transfer to Dragonair, or convert to new Regional seats
B-LA* - convert to 33G (including LAA and LAB)

----------

A330-300
(exclude regional fleet)
33B (Old J, Old Y): B-HLP, B-HLR, B-HLS, B-HLW, B-LAF, B-LAG, B-LAH, B-LAI
33G (New J, Y+, New Y): B-LAC, B-LAD, B-LAE, B-LAJ, B-LAK, B-LAL, B-LAM, B-LAN, B-LAO, B-LAP, B-LAQ
undergoing retrofitting: B-HLQ, B-LAF

A340-300
All A340-300 are 34B (Old J, Old Y)
Retrofitting process from 34B to 34J (J26/W28/Y211) will start from Q3 2013

B747-400
74A (F, Old J, Old Y): ALL Other 747 Aircraft
74K (F, Old J, New Y+, Old Y): B-HKV, B-HOP, B-HOR, B-HUG
undergoing retrofitting: B-HUF

B777-300ER
77D Retrofit (F, New J, Y): B-KPE, B-KPG, B-KPH, B-KPI, B-KPL
77D Factory Fresh (F, New J, Y): B-KPS, B-KPT, B-KPU, B-KPV, B-KPW, B-KPX
77G (New J, Y+, New Y): B-KPY, B-KPZ, B-KQA, B-KQB, B-KQC
77H (F, New J, Y+, New Y): B-KPA, B-KPB, B-KPC, B-KPD, B-KPF, B-KPJ, B-KPM, B-KPN, B-KPO, B-KPP, B-KPQ, B-KPR
undergoing retrofitting: B-KPK

i agree to you too..
i don't understand why some B-HL* will be converted to 33G while B-LAA and B-LAB will be sent to KA

My booked itinerary still shows me on a 77W JNB-HKG while the schedule shows a 744. Should I call to switch seats? Will the itinerary and schedule reconcile at some point soon, or not until much closer to summer 2013?

B-HUF has returned to HKG; could be 74K.

EDIT: It is showing as a 74K.

Seems to be the case; it's on CX 888

Also, B-HOY seems to not have flown in a few days; is it being retired?

Am I right in saying that DXB has one flight x day with new J and one with old J?

Are there often equipment changes?

My way of searching was simply looking at which flights have Y+ (ie new J) and which don't... Is that correct?

DXB currently has one flight a day with Regional J and one flight a day with old longhaul J (herringbone). At this time new J is not offered to DXB. nowadays there are less aircraft substitutions, so if you book the 33B flight you should get 33B.

For searching aircraft that have new J, you can look at the seat map which will be different to old longhaul J.
At this point it is not a rule that if a flight does not have Y+ that it won't have new J. There are still a number of 77D aircraft in service. (I think the 33E have now been converted to 33Gs). It is a rule though, that any aircraft with Y+ will have new J. (Edit: Except 74K)

Please refer to our guide showing what aircraft have what layout and what routes they fly, continually updated on this thread.
