Was searching for a flight in August for HKG-TPE, and saw the 77D being deployed 2x weekly.

the newly fitted J class will not predominately be operated on the australian route; there will be instances where they will be operated regionally.
i don't know, and have not seen, what it will actually say in reservations, but this is what i know. the existing 33B and 773A will have the new seat installed later in the year and early 2013, respectively. the first 773ER to have the new J will be KPS and will be utilised on some flight to JFK, LAX and LHR.
i like the new seat...much more spacious than the previous herringbone one. the only thing that didn't sit right for me is the "cheap" looking seat controls

My CX831 JFK-HKG on April 13th has just changed to a 77D seat map.
Shows up as a 77W (as opposed to 773) on the flight availability section of EF and 77D when the seat maps are viewed.
Cathaypacific.com is also showing the seat map with only 1 seat in row 15 for this flight.
I hope it sticks

If schedules are to be believed, it would appear the first 77D will now start service April 6th as CX830 and then continue running M,W,F returning as CX831. Couldn't figure out what it's doing late Saturday or Sunday.

Refurbishment schedule?
Does anybody know if/when CX will start sending existing 777-300ERs (with the old herringbone business class) back to be fitted with the Cirrus product? Out of curiosity, I'm interested to know how many 777s total (new deliveries + refurbished) they'll have outfitted with the product by year-end 2011.

Seat plan
Hi I'm new to this forum. Just wanna say that looks like starting from 03MAY, Cathay is using 77D on HKGNRT CX520 and 521 flights on Tuesdays, just like what was said above. Just checked my booking today and saw the aircraft changed from 77A to 77D. But like always, Cathay does have their infamous record of last minute aircraft changes, hopefully it won't happen.

Guess the seats are already installed and instead of tearing them down and install the new J, they decided to keep it and fly it for awhile and change them later... Makes sense since CX really needs the plane and tearing off the "old" J would likely delay it for another few more weeks in which CX doesn't want to wait.

According to several websites that I have checked,Cathay Pacific are saying this flight will be a B773 and on my "Manage My Booking" it is down as a B77A.Seat guru have it as a B773,Seat Expert B773 or B77A & Expertflyer B773 or B77A

1.) Many websites screw up CX's 77A and 777 regional configurations. 77A refers explicitly to the 777-300ERs that are ONLY outfitted with the long-haul, herringbone product that was installed beginning 4Q 2007. 773, unfortunately, can sometimes refer to BOTH the 77A and the 777-300 regional configurations (which are ONLY flown to regional destinations, not long-haul, ever), depending on the website. According to various posts here, 77A will ONLY refer to the "old" herringbone product, not the new Cirrus product. 77D refers to Cirrus 777-300ERs.
2.) To make matters more confusing, when reading Cathay Pacific sources you need to take into account where exactly Cathay refers to it as "773". CX will actually show 77A routings (ie, HKG-LAX) as "773" when you're going through the booking process, only to show your metal as 77A in Manage My Booking. What happens is that CX has an unfortunate habit of, in some places, referring to all their 777-300s as 773, however in their fleet not all 777-300s are created equal. The 777-300ERs, as said above are all in long-haul configs with three classes and fly both long-haul and some short and regional hauls. Their 777-300s (non-ER), with regional J and Y and two class service, are not in an operational configuration that allows them to fly anything beyond regional.
3.) Someone recently put up a post about this, and unfortunately I can't find it...help?
