CX/KA reservation system is down this weekend(thus affecting KVS inquiries)...I got an email from them last week preparing me for this outage...states:
On 11 and 12 February, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair will upgrade their passenger reservation system to ensure they can continue meeting their passengers' needs in the future.

Attempting to redeem CX tickets
Does anyone know the most effective way to redeem tickets with CX? Thirty years of my brand loyalty have been lost with the experience. Since I commute monthly between CGK and LHR I used to buy CX Economy, beginning in Asia, then upgrade to Business (a difficult process itself but still possible). Then the introduction of CX Premium Economy two years ago meant that I realised I could buy a full Business Class ticket from Qatar/Etihad/Emirates for LHR/CGK return for LESS money than the CX Premium Economy for CGK/LHR return - and I would still need to give my precious AsiaMiles for an upgrade (Cathay don't like to talk about it but their Europe-based return tickets are about 35% less than for their same Asia-based return tickets). So, for two years I have started my return trips in LHR but, with around 750,000 miles, I have also been trying to secure either Business or First Class return redemption tickets, EITHER way (ie, from London or from Jakarta). No surprise that every attempt shows the flights as 'N/A' or 'Full' no matter how 'flexible' I am with dates, which I just don't believe. Is there a trick that I am missing?
