Read the thread title too fast...and I was hoping it read:

"Amex cancel CX as a recognition benefit"

Remind me again, what exactly was the benefit? I think in the past I had received a bunch of coupons for restaurants I don't typically eat at and other services I wouldn't be interested in using. Was there anything more that I missed out on?

Exactly - if that is the benefit, then good riddance

I think it was free movie tickets. My birthday is still coming up before the expiry date of this offer so I will let you all know once I get it.

midlevels - I don't know your spend but movie tickets certainly don't come with CX Amex as birthday offer. Have been member since 2008, albeit on-and-off churning (I also get my parents' who've been members to 2010)

I like your (mis)interpretation, but not a chance. Back to earth you come...

In your birthday month, you receive a set of vouchers, which includes a free movie ticket, or it might be a buy one get one free voucher. Can't remember. There's also some vouchers to free birthday cakes at certain hotels if you have enough people turn up etc.

sxc - Plat Charge actually has movie tickets. CX Amex probably has a one-off coupon for buy 1 get 1 free - probably Fridays only too cos I remember it's no better than what I get with Plat Credit.

I am not getting any movie coupon from AMEX, what I get is only a bunch of useless coupons for some restaurants that I do not go or I have better card for it. (perhaps I am spending too less)

Plat charge is a bottle of wine or champagne ( i cant remember) redeemed at hysan place III this year, at least apply to April birthday prin cardholders.

anyway those movie tickets dont really worth much... today went to Times Square for Hunger Game and used 2 UA coupons (obtained from HSBC in the summer), and was required to pay an extra of $60 (Original price $120-$60). If I am buying the ticket directly, I need paying $96 (20% off for UA member from DSB). So the coupon worths only $36.

I've dug mine up:

Plat Charge (parent's)
- bottle of Bollinger to be retrieved from Jebsens in Caroline Centre (promptly dispatched parents' messenger to do so)

Plat Cred:
- 25%-30% savings on Tokoro and Chuan Spa Langham Place, The Bostonian in The Langham

CX Amex:
- Fairmont room upgrade, Swissotel second night, 2,000 extra AM for CX Holidays, 25% off for food at W (not drinks so worthless), 25% discount for Bliss Spa at W
