Flight Selection HKG/LAX & YVR/HKG
Am planning to travel to LAX and YVR in December and would appreciate any advice on which flights would be better for 2 Adults & 1 Child in Economy (i.e. meals, comfort, Immigration etc).
HKG/LAX

CX880 773 Dep 2345 Arr 2015
YVR/HKG
CX889 773 Dep 0200 Arr 0750+1
CX839 343 Dep 1430 Arr 2055+1
Cheers

I would say avoid the A343. For all the rest the seats are the new ones, with AVOD, and fixed shell (so people don't recline into your space). Timing really depends on how well you sleep on planes, what you need to do the day before and after, and how your body deals with jetlag.
(Note I guess it is possible that the A343 would have new Y by December, but I don't think we have visibility of the timescales for them to be converted yet)

I guess we were drifting away from the 343 anyway as looking at the seatplan it appears to have 2+4+2 (i.e. either split up or wedged in the middle) ather than 3+3+3.
Have flown SQ 777 previously but not a CX 773 or 744. Any idea on how they compare?

Jetlag wise I would prefer 839 over 889. But the drawback as pointed out is the inferior product you'd get for choosing 839 over 889. The only 343 fitted with new seats is currently doing 256/7. Not sure if they'll be there regularly for YVR by Dec.

Does anyone know which of the HKG/LAX flights tend to be more full in Y than the other?
Also slightly o/t but can anyone suggest a good child friendly hotel in HKG and which is better, Kowloon, TST or Hong Kong Island.
Cheers

But what determines your flight choice should never be based on how full a flight is, unless you want to upgrade with miles or op-up, because even if a flight is shown empty on seat map, it may get pretty full afterwards due to non-rev and other factors. But for comfort level, go with CX880, you will get use to jet-lag much better.
I would dare say nearly all 4-5 star hotels in Hong Kong are all child-friendly. Hong Kong is so covinenent, transportation wise, that it really doesn't matter which side you stay on.
