Travel Alert 22/05 - Air Traffic Control at Hong Kong International Airport
Saw this on the CX page this morning when I was checking the details of my flight tomorrow.
Air Traffic Control at Hong Kong International Airport
Latest update: 22 May 2015 4:00 HKT (GMT+8)
Flights in and out of Hong Kong are subject to delays due to air traffic control.
Any idea news on how long this would last?

Gotta be related to the weather, too. 21 May (yesterday) was pretty epic with the delays. From 1700-1900 in The Wing they were making delay announcements and gate changes every couple of minutes.

Seems like tonight and tomorrow still "squally thunderstorms".
I hope I lucked out, leaving Friday and returning Monday, when the forecast looks better.
Anyway with our Cat IIB runways it shouldn't be visibility but wind shears causing pilots to divert right?

Re: Cat IIB I'm assuming most of Cathay is trained/rated/equipped with it, but for the unrated pilots/planes then it should be a larger factor.

Luckily, no delay coming in on CX 138 this morning. The captain noted ground delays as no gate was assigned at descent but ended up allocated 60. Ground staff took some time to operate the bridges and we waited about 10 minutes. Luggage was delayed and priority bags came about 45 minutes after arrival. I suppose I was lucky compared to the departures side.
