747s, which routes?

Am interested in a 'last' flight on a CX 747. How many 747s are still in CX's fleet and which destinations do they serve?

Thanks.

There's the odd flight here and there to PVG, but HND has a daily service.

Those are the ones i can think of off the top of my head.

Your only choice to guarantee the 747 will be HND.

HND is currently the only route that is served regularly by a 744. You might get lucky on flights to TPE, SIN or PVG however if your sole goal is flying on the 744 before it's retired than HND is your best option.

they are flying the 744 to CTS (Sapporo) this summer as well. figure probably peak season so could use the extra capacity

747s, which routes?

I have seen the 747 used sporadically between HKG and BKK.

They are still being used in aircraft rotations, TPE is a good bet. Like others said there are other routes, but usually they are only used for aircraft rotations so hard to predict.

By the way, I'm assuming you're looking to fly F class on 747? If not, why?

Go with the HND-HKG route in F, full kaiseki on that one - if you have to pick one flight only. If return, then obviously do HKG-HND-HKG or vice-versa but the F meal on HKG-HND is, disappointingly, just an average breakfast menu though the quality is good.

I have F booked HKG>HND next Thursday, very much looking forward to it.

Is there a reason why HND supports a consistent 747 flight? Is the demand for first class that high on this route?

I would guess it's not to do with F but more:
- limited slots at HND, but lots of business demand
- fuel hungry 747 less disadvantaged on short routes

Also the timing requires the aircraft operating 542/3 to overnight at HND for 12 hours. I presume it'd be cheaper to have the 747 on the ground than another type?

Have done CX542 two years in a row ^

Tasty! Especially enjoyed the plum wine.
