Christep, thanks for the explanation.

Percysmith....thanks for the heads-up on the BEA easter spend. I only just got my flyer world MC so I i'll use some easter spend to chip away at the welcome offer target spend. But dining....hmmm, anywhere sell coupons?

Is the Fubon registration retrospective for Japan/Korea/Taiwan transactions? ie. as long as you register before the end of the month you're covered for any Japan/Korea/Taiwan transactions earlier that month? 'Cause we're leaving in the early hours of April 1, and don't fancy going through the registration process in the departure hall.

I'm gonna put the min $500 or else I'll drink myself into a heart attack. I have a decent coffee machine in the office but I enjoy (too many) expresso shots when walking back to the office from dinner.

Relax, can register in arrears (I did for 29 Apr-4 May trip last year. I signed up for April before departure and missus for May after return).

Amex (Gold grade and higher) - 1 mile per $7.5 spent (to $160,000), $200 flat redemption fee). (1 mile per $3 spent for 5x shops and 1 mile per $1.5 spent for 10x shops)
Can someone link me to the list of shops that are 5x or 10x?

Also, does Amex Platinum Charge Card have any foreign transaction fees? In the US it doesn't, in Australia they charge 3pc. What's it like for HK issued cards?

Citi HK BA Avios 20% conversion bonus Apr 15

I admit this is OT for this forum, but since the Citi HK card can convert to AM or Avios, and many BAEC members in HK redeem CX/KA rewards not BA or other rewards, I ask for mods' indulgence to let me post here rather than BA forum.

http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...w.php?id=14547

20% bonus for all redemptions from Citi HK cards to BA from 1 April to 30 April.
Prestige/Premiermiles/Rewards ok.
Phone to redeem.

Another drought from Bankcomm - SaSa gift bags

http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...w.php?id=14550

This stupid gift bag promo goes on from 15/4-15/6. Pray Bankcomm goes back to something points-related then.

Looking to apply for a card to use in Jpn/Korea.
Should I go for the Fubon Platinum / Titanium card or the Shacom Diamond Unionpay.
As many places in those countries offer discounts for unionpay.

For the BEA World Flyer MC, the welcome offer talks about 48000 points.
From the 48000 bonus point, 14,400 are bonus points from Year-round Mileage Reward.

Can someone explain to me what it means ?

Thanks.

Flyer World to be released for direct public application 9 Feb 2015

9,000 x 1.6 = 14,400

40,000 for 9,000 including the 14,400 above = 5,000 miles for $9,000 spend = $1.8/mile

Extra $8,000 for online application - not an earn rate on spending

Unless you're going there a lot, $1.5 fubon < $2.67 shacom.

Unionpay still patchy outside of duty free zones and hotels in JP/KR so unless you're a parallel trader a V/M is still your go-to card.

Cross-border fee - listing of non-HK merchants collecting HKD (flyformiles)

Flyformiles has just done up a list of merchants collecting HKD outside of HK (thus triggering cross-border fee with Dah Sing, Fubon, BoC, BEA (in June this year) and its ilk) http://flyformiles.flyday.hk/3172

I've previously done one up myself http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...w.php?id=11968 , tho his is more complete. I will incorporate mine into his.
