Pioneer Center in Prince Edward has two big diecast airplane retailers. One of them even have a sub-branch in Hung Hom as well. Here is their website
http://www.westmaintoys.com/
There is another one called Toymax in Jordan, easily accessible through Jordan MTR station as it is connected to the shopping mall Toymax is in. The whole path is enclosed.
http://toymaxco.cc/
But there is a 99.9% chance that Toymax won't carry CX models, and as for the other two at Prince Edward, they probably won't be selling you CX models either unless you are a regular customer.
Go onto the internet and look up 80M Bus Models. They have a chain of stores around HK and specializes in buses, but they do carry CXcitement (name for CX duty free items) planes. It's just that the quality of CXcitement's models varies between aircraft type. Some are decent, others are a bit mediocre. CXcitement models (manufactured by Herpa or Hogan) has pretty good 777s and 747s (apart from the odd looking nose shape), but of course there are better moulds out there if you want to look beyond the officially licensed models... It's the primary reason why most diecast plane retailers around HK will be reluctant to sell you a CX model if you are a new customer.

Fair enough but the Man Yee Building model shop really has a lot of stock on display every time I visit - not just CX but a good variety of CX also (even the pre-1994 green-white-green livery)
Oh. We seem to be regugitating a lot of this discussion http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...-aircraft.html . I didn't know sxc has beaten me to recommending the Man Yee Building model shop.
P.S. Uh oh - has it closed down? It seems to be where Silver and Grace on L2 is now listed http://www.mhh.com.hk/eng/retail-floorplan.php#

Used to be "AirBus" Shop 210A http://www.wings900.com/retailers/277.html
Is now Silver 'N' Grace http://www.mhh.com.hk/eng/retail-floorplan.php#
80M models is your next best bet. I think I saw a CX model or two in their Langham Place shop http://www.80mbusmodel.com/menu-6.html, but some time ago. And not as extensive as AirBus - can see if AirBus responds to phone/email per wings900 link and find where they've moved to.

There is a model shop in the iconic "Western Market" building in Sheung Wan. It's quite a good tourist sightseeing location anyway and it's 5 minutes on a tram from Central (the tram ride is another tourist must-do in HK!).

Update!
Thanks for the suggestions, all!
I looked at what was available for order and delivery inflight, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for...they had limited selection, and I think only a 772 available, instead of a 773ER.
Walked down to the Star Ferry terminal in TST and visited the 80m bus model shop there...found both a 1:400 and a 1:200 773ER model! Bought the 1:400 as space is a little tight...but the prices seemed reasonable, and I also got a little Star Ferry model too...!
Sad to leave HK tomorrow, but happy to get back with the family!
Thanks all for your assistance! My kid will be very happy with her models!
