ddjen11,
What did the CX representatives say? Can someone confirm that this is the normal schedule and not the exception?

Curiously, the Oneworld lounge directory (which is linked from BA's website) lists the opening time as 2PM, while Cathay's listing suggests it opens at Noon.
I'd be more inclined to trust the 2PM figure, since we have both the OW directory and first-hand experience by FT'ers to support it. It's a shame - not very much time to enjoy before the 3:30PM departure, especially when you consider boarding.

Flying DCA-ORD-HKG (AA/CX) in J on CX in the fall. If I get the CX BP during checkin at DCA, is there any reason to recheck with CX in terminal 5? I'm OWE so would spend time at AA's Flagship lounge until 130-200PM. I just wonder about the bad security lines in T5. I doubt that CX will help me jump the queue. Any recent experiences?

I will be flying F from ORD on CX. So, I sent an email to the CEO of Cathay, asking about the BA lounge not opening until 2pm. The reply I received is posted below. He also copied the Sr Vp of Americas and Director of Service Delivery. Very impressed with response time and willingness to ask his team look into this issue. Will keep you posted if I hear anything else.
Dear Mr Xxx,
Thank you very much for your email and for bringing the matter to our attention. Our team will follow up on the opening hour issue as soon as possible.
Thank you again for your support.
Best Regards,
Ivan

For showers you have to go to the Admiral Lounge
Here is a flight review I did with a brief write-up on the FL: http://seatplans.businesstraveller.c...omment_id_7272

After sending an email to Cathay Executives about this issue, here is the response I received today regarding the ORD BA Lounge opening time.
Dear Mr. xxx,
Thank you for contacting Cathay Pacific Airways. Your concern was brought to my attention at Customer Relations Department and I appreciate this opportunity to personally reach out to you.
We would like to confirm that the British Airways Lounges do open for our flight at 12pm.As an airline we make every effort to ensure a seamless service to all aspects of our passengers travel aboard our airways. Therefore the comments of our valued passengers such as yourself are extremely important to us as they provide us with a pulse on those areas in need of improvement . While we note that our Cathay Pacific website states that our lounges open 3.5 hours prior to departure however on checking the One World website it does say that British Airways opens the lounge at 2pm. As the logo next to the British Airways one is Cathay Pacific’s we can see how this could be confusing. Again, your comments will prove very useful to rectify this so I will ensure the team working on this gets them directly.
Mr. xxx, we would once again like to thank you for caring enough to share your comments with us. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you onboard our airways soon. If you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Coordinator Customer Relations Department, Americas
Cathay Pacific Airways Limited

I thought that there was a shower at the far end of the room on the left immediately after you enter.
Smaller than some, perhaps, but bigger than a couple of Admiral's Clubs I've been in. I actually that the size of this FL is just about right.

Unless something has changed very recently there are no showers at the ORD Flagship Lounge (you have to go the H/K Admirals Club).

On my recent AA/CX itinerary, AA couldn't check me in for the ORD-HKG segment. Either way, I recommend staying in the FL until 90 min prior to departure then transfer over to T5. As a F pax, they quickly checked me in and walked me through security; not sure if they provide any expedited service for J pax (I'd suspect not).

They have a dedicated ID check line, but once after ID check it is into the mix with everybody using the same baggage/people scanners which can be a cluster@#$%.
