First class to be refurbished second half 2013

Heard CX has plans to refurbish first class beginning second half of 2013. Wonder how extensive it will be?

Perhaps this is part of the cabin 'refresh' together with the Olympus J seats on 744 and 343?

Interesting. I have a hard time conceptualizing how they could improve the hard product. All of my suggestions would be soft product based, starting with LOWER THE FREAKIN' TEMPERATURE IN THE F CABIN!!!

I am not a fan of their F seat. E.g. I want a rectangular instead of triangular bed and the seat should be able to slide forward so you can use the ottoman in the upright/lounging position without being as tall as Yao Ming

I've found the triangular bed to be quite comfortable. In the leg area one doesn't need too much width, whereas the triangular shape with a generously wide area near the head and shoulders allows for comfortable stretching of the arms without having to hang them off the side.

Granted, I've not flown in a rectangular F seat in recent years but I'd have to say that I found the CX F bed very comfortable and not really wanting for more.

Yes, I agree with you that being able to use the ottoman while seated would be nice, and this is actually possible in J. Having said that, the F legrest is good enough.

I guess it all depends on your sleeping position. I found the legroom too restrained for me to sleep in the triangular bed.

Some kind of refresh is needed. I was lucky enought to be upgraded from LHR-HKG last week and noticed that the seating trim and the cloth is looking pretty worn in many areas. Hopefully any refit, however minor, will also include adding iPhone connectors as in the new business class

Have u actually travelled on it? There is an extended legrest/foot rest from the seat and no need to use the ottoman to rest your legs.

Of course everything in JL is better

The hard product is very good and designed well. On the new 777-300ERs it still looks great. However, I had the experience of travelling on two 744 flights in F recently and the seat is very worn out. Even the interior is in tatters. Definitely time for a refresh, even if it's just to replace the façade with the same.

Actually for most 744 it is already 5-6 years already, time for a refresh? Compare to BA it is still a lot better? Actually I think the old betsy seats last a bit longer

Unless I missed it, there's no footrest only leg rest. Your feet will be hanging off the leg rest

Just keep impressing the leg rest button and the foot rest part will come out? If the footrest is not long enough then that means you can reach the ottoman? You do not need to slouch down or recline too much to reach the ottoman? I'm only 174cm

You meant kept tilting the leg rest until it's horizontal?

Lufthansa has a nice feature on their new F seats (and Swiss had it all the time): You can move the footrest closer to the seat. That would do it.
My personal preference is using a footrest at the same heights as the seat surface instead of a legrest.

this first class was clearly a winner, I sincerely hope that they do not make it RECTANGLE!!!!!!, almost all airlines have that, Cathay's is unique and extremely spacious at the head him-where it is needed.

why would the put a new first class on a 747???, If they did not update the business class why would they update the first class??, makes no sense.
