Fear for my safety

I heard from my Thai friend that there is a big issue going on in Thai social media about a Thai Cathay Pacific stewardess who had posted a list of all the passengers' names on her facebook. And one of the passenger who is a daughter of the self exiled prime minister of Thailand happened on board. She mentioned on her fb that she had wanted to pour hot coffee over this passenger but she was calmed down by other colleaques. This is unacceptable . She has a mental issue. Her flight superintendant knew about this. Still she posted the incident on fb. The daughter of the prime minister said she would just forgive her but for me this is a crime. If I happen to be her passenger one day and she is not happy with me , she can harm me.I hope Cathay Pacific clarify this soon.

How does this affect your safety?

Also Thai media are going over the top. I think she just posted a pic of the pax list showing the name of the daughter (blocking out the rest of the names) and said, likely sarcasticly that she wanted to poor coffee etc on her because she is not a supporter. She is Thai, and so she probably wanted to show that this "celebrity" who she does not like, was on her flight. There is no safety issue here. She was never actually going to do anything, otherwise she would have done it on the flight.

Whilst it is not a good idea to do that, I think media etc. going way over the top on this....

she got the senses to ask her immediate superior to be transferred to other duty just because she did not want to travel in the same flight with that people, so her menace to do "something" to the daughter of her political enemy was averted. What remains is a grossly irresponsible and infantile behavior in making public a single name in a flight manifest (and I assume these documents while never completely confidential must be accessible only by few). Thai politics has struck me as nonsensical these last years, but I thought it would not be possible to go to these lows. It would be interesting to see how CX will react, as this may become a precedent with possible dangerous consequences.

Politics are very personal in Asia. In Taiwan I frequently read news on how long-time friends or neighbors would literally kill each other because of "blue/green" differences. While the average people probably shouldn't be concerned, but if I'm a politician that travels frequently, it does cause for some concern knowing that a FA hates you so much that he/she wants to hurt you. What's bothersome about her news is that she actually called her "personal advisor" and asks if it's ok to pour hot coffee on her? What if the advisor said yes? Geez...

Maybe that's why Ma's daughters always take CX?

Unless airlines can start limiting pax due to their political affiliations, and hire staff based on their political stands, it can happen to any airline...

Welcome to FT.

At the least, what the FA said was only in a thinking phase. It was way much better than allowing Victoria Beckham sat at the jump seat.

And this is something I never understand.

As a political figure (current or former), shouldn't the Shinawatra's family support TQ? (FWIW - TQ's service is not bad.)

And in this case of Ma in Taiwan, should that family choose CI or BR instead?

Isn't politics a way to show how much you love a place?

I will never understand why people let their politics get the better of them. Asking to be reassigned to another cabin is one thing but threatening a pax is just not acceptable.

Can't image that this FA will have a job with CX much longer.

which is why the airline is not at fault but the person is. If a person is emotionally unstable (due to political reasons) she shouldn't be having a job that would tempt her to do harm on political figures (or their relatives) that they don't like.

Politicians are hyprocrits.

This is actually kudos to CX, they are so good that even national figures would ditch their own nation's airlines in favor of CX.

However, with that said, I've recently tried AE (really CI in another name)'s regional Business class product. In my opinion it's better than what CX has to offer in terms of seat (then again, I haven't tried the new CX regional J yet, so maybe that's why...).
