F Fliers with no FFP

Saw the unthinkable yesterday on my way back to HKG. I was perched in seat 1K (my fourth straight CX flight in 1K ) and I caught a glimpse of the BP belonging to the gentleman across the aisle in 1A.

No FFP number was listed. Really! This means it wasn't a redemption ticket. Do people really pay to fly F and then not bother to collect miles?? What a travesty.

Perhaps he had it removed by CX for later crediting?

Or perhaps some people are truly too rich to care

Partner redemption tickets (from AAdv, for example) do not automatically generate with FFP information.

Yes. There are many people out there who
1) Cannot be bothered
2) Don't know anything about it
3) Can afford it and don't care about 'points'
4) Can afford it, fly, and don't eat or drink much. They come aboard and tell the crew they only want to sleep on duration of flight.

I know for a fact that my sister for example finds no qualms about plonking US$8K for a First class return from Singapore to London on QF and couldn't be bothered with EK even though they're cheaper and she gets a limo and she doesn't want to change planes.... and only after 4 years of doing this every other month did I finally persuade her to open an AAdvantage account.

Meanwhile her poor brother (me) flies economy and scrimping on every mile he can get!

ah ha! Yes indeed, FT makes us jaded (nice seat, btw). I flew back from HND in F last week on 74A, full 9/9 (all revenue pax, according to the ISM...no op-ups! I was blown away at the demand). FIVE pax had no designation (DM/GO/EM/etc) on the seat map posted in the galley. Me, another DM, two GOs, and five nothing. While it is true they could just be GRs, I doubt it - it's pretty common to see folks in F without any FF designation.

I admit to frequently stealing glances at peoples BPs while in line, and it used to amaze me at what a low % of people actually input FF #s, as my assumption was that of course people wouldn't actually fly without inputting a FF #. But I'm no longer amazed, because it literally happens every flight! Maybe 1/3 or more of pax, including F.

On mine I always request my A number to be put on the ticket in case of IRROPS and they book me in full fare F

YVR-HKG in economy I looked at lots of BPs that had no FFP numbers on them.
(My guess is that most of these were leisure travellers anyways.)

I know someone who frequently pays & flies long haul F and doesn't have any FFP. I asked him why, he said he didn't want to bother.

Yes, it pains me to even type this out.

One of my aunts who flies YVR-HKG a few times a year seems to never put her FF number on any of her bookings.

Whenever she is in the mood to go to HKG, she just walks into any Chinese travel agency in Vancouver and book whatever non-stop flight that is available (either CX or AC). She dosen't carry her FF cards in her purse and occasionally has to call me and asks me what her FF number is.

It is usually after her trips that she would bring me her used e-tickets and boarding passes and ask me to do retroactive mileage claims for her. Sometimes I get to use her miles because of this

It could be an ID/AD ticket but I don't think CX allows AD tickets in F last time I checked with my TA
That being said I don't think that there were 5 TAs going to HKG from SFO the last time I was there (no FFN on BPs)
