Since this is something new, I would do that. Don't count on everyone knowing this new agreement.
"Through the arrangement, effective later this summer" - looks like we can expect for an(other) update closer to implementation date. But good news overall, will make my travels much easier. Only problem is the vastly different baggage check-in rules...

Nothing so far unless a FFP agreement is going to be signed later on. At this stage it is only baggage interline, a very basic feature among legacy companies. It is even not a codeshare.

It may be convenient coming off of a 16+ hour flight and you don't want to hassle with your luggage, but I'm not sure if this is something to be too excited about (at the moment at least)!
We tried this in mid August (without even knowing that it was under discussion): TPE-HKG-JFK-MCO, fine from Taipei to JFK on CX but the CX agents in Taipei couldn't tag our bags for Orlando, just to JFK, which means that the people at the transfer desk at Terminal 7 in JFK wouldn't accept them and we had to take them on the Skytrain to the JetBlue terminal. Not a big deal as we had plenty of time and checkin there was painless but the interlining didn't seem to be a reality in mid-August.

For that Valentine mess (it did happen on Valentine's day), B6 is responsible, but not really their fault after all. JFK was in a big mess and without open gates to offload.
If you have flown to any NYC airports (EWR/LGA/JFK), you know the mess.
B6 interlines with JAL as well, and you can earn AA miles flying B6. Would not surprise me to see a closer cooperation between OneWorld and B6 in the near future.

just curious...have you ever flown them? i do regularly from BUF to MCO. of them, airtran, SW, they are the best IMO.
[just remembered...how long were those poor people on the CX plane during that winter storm in NYC?...sure not CX's fault but if you are pointing this out, why not point out the CX one also...]
You'd still have to collect your bag despite the interline due to customs regulations, though, which sucks. I guess it works when you fly from US back to HK.
