Park Inn Nuremberg comments?

Hi, I do not see anything mentioned on FT on the above. Visiting for the Christmas market this week, any suggestions?

I've spent about 12 or so weeks in this hotel.

Nothing special: it is a standard Park Inn, maybe a bit outdated. Staff has always been friendly enough. They have an on-site restaurant that has room service and the food's decent, but the breakfast is terrible - worst of any Park Inn I've ever stayed at.

No A/C in the summer, which doesn't matter in the winter but worth knowing for future visitors to this thread.

They only have 2 types of rooms, and I'd normally get a business class upgrade if I booked standard. It's slightly bigger with a small sofa.

Welcome gift was usually a big handful of Ritter Sport minis and a bottle of water.

Good wifi.

My choice in Nuremberg for sure, unless the Sheraton has a rate within my budget (rarely).

Well, here is my report after my stay this past Friday. berlinflyer83, is correct with his comments. However, I would not say outdated, overall. This is my first Park Inn stay, as they are not located in the US, but the hotel looked pretty good to me. Very close to the main train station, just a short 10 minute walk or so. There are 2 grocery stores nearby, within a block there is Aldi and Rewe on the same location. There are several restaurants, and I think there is also a casino nearby as well. City center is about 15-20 minute walk.

As a CC gold member I also got the upgrade to the bigger room, with the same welcome packet, Ritter chocolates, and water. I did not try the restaurant, so I cant comment on the food, but I was indeed packed while I was there. The hotel bar is decent, but a bit small, it was full the night that we where there, and the bartender was busy. Room was nice, clean and big enough, however it was very warm for us. Fitness center was good as well.

A few things I need to point out to other future travelers was that you could only connect 1 device to the WiFi, if you wanted to connect more than one, you will have to pay 7 EUR for the enhance package. They did not provide any toiletries, only soap, no shampoo, no conditioner, no lotion either. Not sure if that is the norm with PI, but luckily we had some with us from the previous hotel. You had to go downstairs to get an ice bucket from the reception or the bar, the ice machine was on the first floor.

Overall, it was an excellent stay, I consider this hotel to be an excellent value for the money.

I have stayed there a number of times an can definitely recommend it, if you are ready to accept the PI standard. Yet sometimes (christmas market, trade fairs, ...) the prices seem to be a bit steep e.g. compared to the Hilton.

Since there have opened a few new hotels just across the main train station, I would definitely compare prices.

An update on this property...

Positive:
- Good breakfast buffet for a hotel in this category
- Nice welcome present for Gold (a dictionary on the local dialect plus chips plus a few bottles of water)

Negative:
- Unbearable smell in the hallways (no windows, no ventilation there, me thinks)
- As gold, they gave me quite a poor room despite the hotel being half empty: They gave me a corner room on the first floor directly exposed to a loud, 4-lane street as well as a tram line. I understand this can happen when they're nearly fully booked but it wasn't. They should have given me a high floor and/or a room facing towards one of the side streets.
- Location. The hotel is not in the nicest area. It's also a 15 min walk from the station. I feel there are better options location-wise in Nuremberg.

I'd agree with the above report, got dumped in a 1st floor on the tram line side, I was fairly peak season and on points so had to let it slide.

Room was recently refurbished, no complaints there, breakfast was extremely good by Park Inn standards

You do have a Park Plaza at the station as an option, thats surrounded by tram lines though so noise is a problem everywhere

The location isn't that bad but yes you do have the red light street at the old city walls, but the location is fairly typical of most german cities
