Booking a stay with 4-4-2 or 2-4-1 rate and Gold status expiring before the stay
Hi,
I have made a couple of bookings with the 4-4-2 and 2-4-1 rates for next year. However, I just realized that my Club Carlson Gold Elite status will expire in Feb 2014. My bookings are months after that, and looks like I'm not gonna be able to keep my status next year.
Will the hotels refuse me to get the discounted rate, and force me to pay the rack rate? If so, I'll invest my money elsewhere...
Thanks in advance!

Generally the hotel sees the status from when the booking was made. However, some hotels retrieve it only when you check-in, and another CIA had told me they have status from the point of booking with their specific system, but also periodic updates for long-term bookings. Generally seems to be a bit all over the show, wouldn't recommend to generalise across the board with their underlying IT system...

chrisljo,
They have never asked me for the card (actually never received it, when it changed from goldpoints to CC).
Have the same situation for 2014, have 11 stays booked, but my status expires in Feb 2014.
regards

If you want to go by the letter, you need to hold gold status at check-in. Pracitcal evidence shows that you most likely won't be refused if you won't hold gold status at check-in. Some would say give it a try. But at your own risk.
