Aruba experts?

I'm looking to stay in Aruba next winter for a week. I've pretty much concluded I will stay on either Eagle or Palm beach. Are there any well informed travelers who can say which is superior and why? I really could use some first hand info.
TIA!

Well, that has been an ongoing debate for years now between Arubaphiles (new word lol!). We spend most of the year in Aruba and are on Eagle Beach. Eagle Beach is the low rises and Palm Beach is very much more busy and has the high rise hotels, The Radisson, Westin, Marriott, Hyatt etc. It really depends on what you're looking for - what you like! For really good info from a diverse group check out forums at www.aruba-bb.com and www.aruba.com. We prefer Eagle Beach and, specifically, Costa Linda Beach Resort (primarily timeshare but they rent - mostly 2 bedrooms with 16 3 bedroom units). It has a very large beach and is really very nice. We go to the highrises for some of the restaurants and, when in season, it reminds DH of downtown Hyannis on Labor Day weekend.

What type of accomidations?

the beach would depend on what type of resort/hotel you would want to stay in. If you want a resort type hotel or would like to be near restaurants.shopping >Palm.

In addition to the mentioned forum boards, check tripadvisor, too. They have some local experts on their board with some great knowledge.

I'm thinking of renting a timeshare unit. It must be on the beach with a nice pool. I'd like to be near casinos too.
