Barbados Connection Time

I have a flight from St. Vincent to Barbados. Then Barbados to US.

Is a 1hr and 10 min connection time enough to allow at the Barbados airport? Is there customs at Barbados, etc...?

Wow this is one tough question.

Based on your post I am assuming that you are not classified as an intransit passenger, hence the reason why you would need to face immigration, baggage collection, customs and the check in process for your US flight.

If this is the case then you are cutting it extremely close. You may make it but it will be close. What is you flight date and arrival time in Barbados - the airport can get very very busy and line can be long and slow. I would recommend contacting your US carrier and advising them of your flight details in an attempt to prevent them from closing the flight.

The second concern I have - and it is a major one - you may be flying from SVG on Liat. Not the most reliable carrier. Add to this, the ongoing tension between the pilot's union and management, you could be in for a hard time.

Short answer, I would try to get to Barbados earlier.

What's the chance LIAT strands me? I can take an earlier 1 stop LIAT flight but would definately need to be on the later flight.

The earlier flight is Saint Vincent to Barbados with a stop in a Grenada.

It's a 25 min stop over.. Would LIAT hold the plane if the first plane is late?

You just never know with LIAT. It all depends on how late your flight is coming into Grenada.

You may just get lucky and you SVG flight might very well be the same plane continuing to Barbados. If ths is the case they you won't have to concern yourself with being late for the Grenada Barbados flight. In most of these connections in islands outside of Barbados and Antigua, you don't change planes, you just drop off and pick up passengers.

Chances that you get stranded - small

Chances that you get delayed - high (as the industrial tensions build, I would be concerned about flights in late October). I believe I heard on the news that the Pilots and Management still have not reached an agreement.

Are you able to OLCI with your US carrier? Carry on bags only? Both will save you time once you clear in-bound immigration and customs in BGI. Based on my regular experience with Liat, especailly late in the day, I agree with the other recommendations to get to BGI earlier.
