Canadian Plus Award Sale
I received a mailing from CX last week:
"For a limited time, CX is offering a chance to claim a CPlus travel award for up to 30,000 fewer points than normally required.
From now through May 19, 2000 you can claim a reduced CPlus award certificate for travel on CX! Remember, you must claim the award no later than May 19 and travel must be completed within one year of ticket issuance, subject to blackout dates and limited seating available.
Remember, you must claim your award, make your reservation and obtain your ticket from Canadian Airlines before May 19, 2000.
To claim your award, call Canadian Airlines Reservations at 1-800-663-0290."
From CX North American gateways to:
Hong Kong, Malaysia, Phillipines or Thailand via HKG - 60,000 (Economy), 85,000 (Biz) and 120,000 (1st Class)
Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, India or Sri Lanka via HKG - 70,000, 100,000, 170,000.
The Middle East, Turkey or South Africa via HKG - 120,000, 170,000 270,000.

this is roughly equivalent to what CX is doing with AAdvantage.

If anybody is planning a J-class revenue trip to asia in the next year or two, CX ran an add in the Saturday editions of the POST and GLOBE & MAIL for Canadian residents to get a second ticket free. You mail the form in and they'll send a certificate valid for three years!
