Is Best Western a partner?

I caught a Best Western commercial last night, and noticed the CP logo at the end. I assumed this had something to do with a partnership. I couldn't find them listed as a partner in CPlus, but Best Western lists CPlus as a partner that you earn points on. Is one of them out of date, or is this something new?

Yes they are partners. Many BW hotels let you claim CP points directly for stays at a rate, I think, of 250 points per stay, or you can convert BW Gold Crown Club points into CP miles. I last did this about a month ago - 2500 points ($US2500 spent at BWs) gives you 5000 CP points. Transfer is electronic and takes a couple of weeks.

Better still, some properties offer 500 points per stay, and some even let you "double dip." That is, collect both CP points and GCC points.

Some properties post quickly, others take forever.

I was watching the Weather Network this afternoon and saw an ad for Hertz, ended with an Aeroplan logo in the corner. After a commercial for someone else, there was an ad for Best Western that ended with a "triple points" graphic and a Canadian logo above it. I didn't catch the details but might be worth checking out.

Thanks for the info. Where can I find out (if at all) what properties give 500 points or allow you to double dip?

My experience is doubling dipping is an aberation. I am told at the check-in desk that I can use one card or the other. I always book under the GoldCrownClub card and number, but in Canada and the US have my miles credited to CP (though I have now had them credited to AA). Through the rest of the world you can only credit points to the GoldCrownClub, so it is useful to keep an active account open. (You must have one stay per year to keep your account. I have talked to them many times about this requirement, particularly for those who have points credited to airline partners, but to no avail. Even with 10 stays credited to CP or AA, I still have to post one to GCC. But with their vast range of mid-price, quite acceptable hotel affiliates around Europe, this is not difficult.)

I also find posting to airlines is a problem, and can take forever. I now just copy my bill and send/fax a copy to the CP or AA office for verification/credit.
