Icelandair increases 2017 frequency from YEG to daily service
Word has come through channels from FI that YEG is getting daily service in 2017: (sorry but no link)
As we enter the fall and winter months of 2016, Icelandair continues to expand its global network with additional flights and increased capacity to and from North America. As part of the 2017 schedule, Icelandair will now offer up to double daily service from Washington-Dulles, daily service from Chicago and Edmonton

Wow - I didn't expect that, especially given the less than optimal state of the AB economy (and the weak CAD vs. EUR which may make leisure pax re-consider treir travel plans to Europe).

2018 peak summer Icelandair ONLY 4x per week
Quite a shocking reduction. Last year the flights I was on in summer were 98-100% full and there were no sales.

YEG isn't exactly a destination airport with great connections. I am not taking a swipe at you being a Calgarian resident, just pointing out the achilles heel that the airport has had to deal with since it opened.
If fares are reasonable it would be worth it drive up to do this flight.

what a difference from 2015
Two years ago, Edmontonians worked themselves into a lather over the fact that AC was reducing its non stop service to London:
