What would a walk from Yaletown along Beach Ave/those beaches to Stanley Park be like? How long? Are you walking alongside a lot of cars? Better just to rent a bike?

It would be very nice

Well, depends how far into Stanley Park you want to go. You'll be walking along the Seawall, a pedestrian/cycling path that runs along the water's edge. From Yaletown to Second Beach is probably an hour to an hour fifteen. I'd allow 90 minutes to Third Beach.

No, there are no cars on the seawall, just pedestrians, rollerbladers, cyclists and the odd skateboarder.

You could, but if you wanted to continue around Stanley Park you'll be going in the 'wrong direction.' The cycling path on the Stanley Park portion of the seawall is one-way, counter-clockwise, in the Stanley Park sections.

Here's a map of the seawall:

Perfect reply - thanks. See you next Saturday - can you set the weather gauge to sunny and 75?

No, but if by 'next Saturday' you mean the 30th, I can arrange for an amazing free fireworks show:

Also note that the 31st is the Pride Parade - Many thousands of 'colourful' people downtown

Here's a map showing where the barge will be:

The best spot will be at the beach at the intersection of Denman and Beach.

Here's another map with a better level of detail:

Note that 'road closures' means no cars. Pedestrians welcome.

Thanks. Weather looks good. Hopefully AC034 keeps its ovens in order for the ride back east.

I just visited Vancouver. But my planning didn't allow any decent time to see things. I have to fix that next summer. What time I did spend, the weather was ideal. Not many places on the continent can make that claim in July. I told my niece and her husband they live in my vision of Paradise. They didn't really contradict me.
