Las Vegas to Napa Valley road trip

Hi,

I am planning a road trip from Vegas to Napa Valley. In all, I have 5 days free. Since the length is over 10hr drive, I plan to stopby other cities along the way. I plan to be in Napa for 2 full days (you think this is enough for first time visitor?) while remaining 3 days will be on the road. I wonder if FT experts can recommend me cities which I should overnight along the way? (both to and from Vegas)

Thank you.

When will you be doing this? Weather and road conditions could impact advice.

abmj-jr,

I will probably be doing this in mid of December.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I would say that two full days in Napa Valley would be nice. I've always enjoyed Sonoma Valley, too; it might, IMO, be worth considering spending some time there, too.

If you're thinking about spending one full day between Las Vegas, Nevada, and Napa Valley, I would suggest driving straight to someplace on the coast like San Luis Obispo, California. If instead you'd rather overnight a couple of places, I would suggest staying somewhere between Santa Barbara, California, and San Luis Obispo the first night and somewhere between Carmel, California, and Santa Cruz, California, the second night. That's a nice time of year to be on the coast and not that great of a time to be in the mountains or the San Joaquin Valley.
