Vueling. What to expect compared to US LCC's.

I'm going to be flying Vueling soon going CDG-BCN. Price was right, times were right, airports were right enough, and their name looks just enough like Yuengling to get me thirsty

I'm just wondering what to compare them to. After reading their website, I'm leaning towards a European Jetblue/Westjet.

Am I right? Totally wrong? Please do tell.

8 hours later... Bueller, Bueller

I'm gonna guess they're better than Ryanair... however, gathering from my last time flying Ryanair, walking is a better alternative.

You might have better luck asking this question oveor in the "Other European airlines" section. Or using the search function

I flew Vueling BCN-FCO in January and the were absolutely fine. (And I never have flown Ryanair, nor have any intention to.)

Please continue to follow this thread in the Budget Travel Forum. This is the proper venue for topics regarding LCCs.
Thanks..

I flew them in March from Madrid to Paris. A perfectly good airline - flights were on time, legroom was tolerable (and in the exit row, it was great!), the plane was clean.

Certainly miles ahead of Ryanair and I would have no problem flying Vueling again.

Thanks for the input!

They're fine. Quite new planes, decent customer service, you shouldn't have any problems. Now Ryanair on the other hand....AVOID AVOID AVOID.

you flew Vueling?!? you were not on this 'special' band-aid flight?
mid june, as passengers took their seats on the Lisbon to Madrid flight operated by Vueling, they noticed that all but three of the 32 rows on left side of the plane were taped off. the captain told them on the intercom: "we will not be able to use that part of the plane because we have a safety problem with the door at the front. don't worry, it's only a safety problem"...
Vueling has huge financial problems, shares are falling, and one of its main shareholders, Apax Partners, just sold its shares...
so I'm not sure the carrier will last the year
what do you think?

The rumor is that Apax wants to get cash to make a bid for Iberia.
I am not pessimistic regarding Vueling...but who knows.
Have flown Vueling: nice planes, good service, motivated staff.

This wouldn't surprise me. Although they looked like they were trying to copy jetBlue when they started.

I get their e-mails and they are always having 10,000 seats for €10 sales, and that is not sustainable.

vueling

What you can expect

Clean, tidy aircraft with decent leg room. snack for sale.

What you shouldn't expect

On time Flight Departure. I have never been on a vueling flight that left on time. whether it be 20 min or 4 hours, i wouldn't schedule connections. They have few aircraft and short flights so...

there was indeed a rumor about Apax going after Iberia...
as I see the deal, Apax knows that Vueling won't make profits, so they took away their money when the carrier still valued something
value for passengers (cheap tickets) is one thing, being financially sustainable is another...
