Empty Leg on a Private Jet, how much?

How much can I expect to pay for an empty leg private jet. For example, from NY to FL. I've read that you can save over 50%, but 50% of what? $10,000? I don't have a clue. Just want to see if it's a viable option if you can fly on short notice. I've never even considered it but if the price is close to a commercial jet then I would definitely do it. Thanks for the help.

I sincerely doubt you'll get a response in this forum. Perhaps a mod will move this into the right forum.

Private jets start at about $1000/hr of operation, plus other incidentals such as in flight crew, catering, etc. Depending on the charter company you choose, you may also incur positioning fees, return leg, and other fees. I am guessing the 50% you are referring to, is 50% off this price.

Getting an empty leg really depends on the aircraft type and the amount of time between your booking and the actual flight. It also really depends on your route -- if it's in the state, it'll be a lot cheaper. I've done a Chicago-Miami flight with about 4 days' notice, and gotten it for about $13k per pax, which is about 1200 miles. In contrast, a Paris-Moscow flight I took last year ran about 22k Euros, and was about 1500 miles.

In short, I'd say it's comparable to first class if you get the really last minute rates in the US (as in several hours before the flight, when it would probably get cheaper), not so much if you're outside of it. My $0.02.

Just recently saw a Boston - Miami flight for $1,499, last minute dead-head leg. The jet could hold 6 passengers.

These are the JetSuite "Suite Deals".

Wow some of these are pretty good, like San Jose - Denver for $499 for 3 people or Oakland to Santa Monica for $499 for 4 people. If you happen to be going where the deals are with enough people, not only is it cheaper than last minute economy, it's even cheaper than advance purchase economy.

edit: I think $499 last minute SJC-DEN for 3 people definitely qualifies as budget travel haha.

see Jet Suite’s website: www.jetsuite.com

"JetSuite's last minute daily flight deals give you the chance to fly privately starting at only $536 each way (for the whole jet). See below for instructions, terms & conditions.”

If you are interested, take a look at the website, it will answer all your questions.

Huh, I just checked and they loaded 13 flights. Mostly intra-CA. However, 1100 for 6 people from FLL to CT and FLL to (basically) EWR.

Never thought I would see a Private Jet thread in a Budget Travel forum.

My thoughts as well, but since I can't think of where else to move this thread it seems like as good a place as any
