Exclamation MegaBus changes Bus Stop in Dallas to Grand Prairie

Please be advised that the pick-up and drop off location for Dallas, TX has moved. The new pick-up/drop-off point will be located at 710 Davis Street in Grand Prairie. The new stop is at the Coach USA Bus Facility. There are pick-up and drop-off facilities at the facility, but no parking is available on site. Megabus.com’s arrival/departure location will not be on Elm Street between N. Olive St and S. Pearl St. in downtown Dallas – as we announced in May – because the required facility changes at the downtown location will not be completed by June 19. We sincerely regret the inconvenience that may be caused as a result of the change. Further information on the stop location can be found in the bus stops section of the website.

Making it MUCH, MUCH less useful

Useless for those of us who can get to downtown Dallas on the light rail

Link to above quote

Edit to add: City of Grand Prairie has not public transportation system, and there is NO place to park at the new facilitly

I agree that the new location is terrible. No public transportation and the middle of nowhere.

I'm on the launch bus from Memphis to Dallas 6/19 am; leaving Madison Wi on the 18th. Got the bus down to Dallas for $39 total. It's way to late to get any reasonable fare. Megabus has known about this at least June 1st. Interesting article and comments.

Good article.

MegaBus also changed the location of the Downtown Houston stops. http://us.megabus.com/ServiceAdvisor...d=49&home=true

Megabus.com's Houston arrival and departure location will now be on the NE corner of the intersection of Clay St. and Travis St. The new location offers customer parking as well as access to local transit. Passengers booked from Austin to both Katy and Houston North West are unaffected by this change. Megabus.com's arrival/departure location will not be at the Eastwood Transit Center at 4400 Gulf Freeway or on Polk Street., near the intersection of Travis in downtown Houston.- as the company announced in May. Those stop locations were not compatible with the Houston METRO schedules. We are pleased to offer our customers a more convenient stop and apologize for any inconvenience.

Ha ha, poor ol' Megabus tried to start service in Greyhound's backyard. How much you want to bet this isn't going to be resolved anytime soon?

All aboard for Grande Prairie!

Like another user pointed out in this thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/budge...nds-texas.html Dallas-based SWA may have something to do with this.

So are there absolutely no parking options at the Grand Prairie location?

Last time I looked at Magabus web site, they said limited parking, not NO parking which was posted initially.

EmailKId, waiting for Megabus to move its bus stop a little closer to Dallas

Well, I took the bus last night from OKC to Dallas (Grand Prairie) and it was a perfectly fine ride. Bus wasn't very full and it was comfortable.

Only a couple complaints.. there is no signage anywhere at the OKC location to let you know you are in the right spot. The bus showed up about 10 minutes late, but arrived in Norman on time. But we left Norman five minutes late because the bus driver was smoking a cigarette.

The most intriguing thing for me was the route that we took. We came down I35E and took that all the way to I30. I'm not sure why the driver didn't take Loop 12 as that would have saved a lot of time. We ended up arriving about 20 minutes late.

The wifi was unusable... just really unreliable and not worth the hassle.

All-in-all, it was cheap and nice.. I'd do it again.

It is possible there is not enough height clearance on Loop 12.

That was the only thing I could think of as well.

You mean other than where you got dropped off

Thanks for the report ^

One question: how was the area in Grand Prairie generally?

Thanks, EmailKid

Actually, I am generally OK with the Grand Prairie location. I live in Arlington, so it's closer for me than downtown Dallas. That said, the area around the GP location is a little sketchy but I did not feel unsafe at any time.
