VECA / VU - Central America's new Low Cost Carrier / LCC

VECA (VU) is a new low cost carrier based in El Salvador. It started operations on December 2014 and they have recently launched their website.

VECA is using two A319 for flights between GUA, SAL and SJO.

- Guatemala, Guatemala (GUA)
- San Salvador, El Salvador (SAL)
- San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO)

The flights between SAL and GUA are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Prices start at US$189 for the Round Trip.

Nice to see LCC coming to Centroamerica, but for such short flights that's still a LOT of money.

Thanks for posting ^

Thanks for the heads up! Completely agree, at 189rt, thats seriously an arm and a leg. SAL airport is quite far from the city too - which should be factored if wanting to head downtown.

Pullmantur is a good alternative (SAL-GUA/TGU) - the seats are unbelievably comfortable (although slightly more expensive than KingQuality/TICA).

IIRC SAL is closer to the coast than the city

Former GF used to use Ticabus from MGA to SJO, but even that is a rather long journey

I've only used Hedman Alas in Honduras.

Still, this small hops can cost as much as US$ 770 in the other carriers... And that's in coach
