No, not yet. We haven't hear the news lately. No news for DFW yet.

BWI-ORD year round

Spirit is making ORD-BWI year round. I wonder if it's driven to make BWI larger or ORD larger, but likely the latter. It still lacks BWI-MCO for example, and Southwest is unchallenged on that route with AirTran acquired.

With that in mind, I wonder if there will be any new route additions for PHL or BWI. Perhaps BWI-MCO, BWI-ATL or PHL-ATL or PHL-ORD? I also wonder if it goes the other direction to leave PHL back for ACY since PHL growth seems to be nonexistant, and it's flat to 2-3 routes/departures only.

I'd think DFW pax could make DFW-ACY work just like DFW-PHL works and US will charge more on that route so that pax will flock to Spirit rather than waffle between what's cheaper and then choose US. I think ACY-LAS is too long and thin and Spirit actually once flew it, but not sure it's a supercrucial route. It's a long time to be on a Spirit plane, but there must be enough pax in the Philly region that are fine being uncomfortable as a start for a vacation.

Actually, they tried ACY-LAS before, but it didn't workout well. They couldn't make it. They couldn't have enough money. It was short-lived.

Is ACY a growing market? Just read a terrible story about one casino being bankrupt and three going out of business at the end of the summer; that's four out of eleven.

Wow! What a bummer. I felt sorry for those people. They couldn't have enough money. They cannot afford of it.

Website now lists the ATL routes for 10/24 and MSY routes for 10/30.

^^^ for adding service from ATL. Though it used to be there were $9++ fares out of ATL occasionally to FLL, MCO or MYR (ATL-MYR now discontinued) whereas lately all "sales" seem to bottom out in the $40-50 range.

And ATL-DTW is a head-on hub-to-hub against DL, with ATL-ORD a big business route. Delta is unlikely to match and will probably ignore for now, but both routes could be very popular.

Flew on the inaugural MCI-ORD a couple weeks back. $49 o/w + the $50 upcharge for the big front seat.

I only took my backpack, so no charge for a carry-on. Also printed the BP at home, so no airport BP fee.

It was a very nice flight - much better than my friend and I had expected. Seat was comfortable and the crew was great! While I'd prefer flying AA, I'd certainly book the ORD service again if the prices were too high on AA or UA.

Also pleased to have the LAS service. Just booked 8 people on a r/t for next week. With 3 nights of hotel at a solid 3.5 star, and the flight, it was $191 per person! WN is $475 for flights, not including the hotel!

Well, fly Spirit long enough & you're sure to come out of it with stories, in not a DVT case. I actually managed to get a trip to ACY where I wasn't hit too hard on the car rent or hotel (which are often dealbreakers for there), but on the ACY-ATL return the row behind me had 5 adults and 5 lap children for 6 seats! The plane was 98-99% full and they managed to reshift it to just 3 adults and 4 lap children...the FA didn't mention the oxygen-mask issue, but one parent brought it up. She got moved to the row behind (making 4 people in the 3-row), but the 3-row in front of her still had 3+2.

Some trips also have a bit of a "bus crowd" in terms of attitude and/or lack of travel experience. That can get the FAs into drill-sergeant mode, though I think they've been dinged enough for that on comments that there might be some retraining (have noticed some improvement vs. a year ago).

Spirit announces Cleveland

Wow! Another new city, huh? NK announces Cleveland, but they didn't add CVG instead.

http://m.wkyc.com/topstories/article?a=16146985&f=2000

NK will fly CLE-FLL/LAS/LAX/DFW/MCO will go for year-round and also, CLE-RSW/TPA is only for the winter seasonal flights.

And also, NK will fly CLE-MYR is only for the summer seasonal.

Too bad none of these are going to LGA. I suppose I'm delusional hoping for LGA, there's enough traffic going into NYC.

Isn't LGA slot restricted?

Suspect it would break their model if they had to buy landing rights.

Took Southwest a long time to start to fly to NYC proper, used to be you could only fly to Long Island IIRC.
