Scoot (TZ) B787-9
Was being spontaneous and wanted to try something new so booked on the inaugural Feb 6 SIN-HKG B787-9 flight on ScootBiz, their version of J. Will return on Feb 8th.
I don't think there will be anything special since it's an LCC carrier and it's a redeye flight, it's just a plane swap for them I guess.
Now I'm just hoping nothing goes wrong like cancellations or riding on the existing B777-200 (although it is a bigger plane).
Anybody flying Scoot on their new plane? The Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine is built in the Singapore factory.

Name change is allowed if you booked it with that option, I did a dummy booking for OOL and it shows S$55 only.

Received an email regarding the inaugural flight to HKG. Seems like some lucky draw to win a pair of tickets to OOL and a 2 night stay at Hotel Grand Chancellor Surfers Paradise with breakfast for 2.
You'll have to check-in/board in your pajamas though. Not for me.

Any trip reports on the 787 HKG/SIN route in J?
I am looking at getting family of 5 from HKG to SIN next December and this is coming up far cheaper than Y on SQ or CX. In fact, it's roughly the same price for all 5 of us in Scoot J as for a single CX or SQ one way. Since we often have gotten CX regional on intraAsia flights, going with Scoot seems like a good deal.
Anyone actually fly the 787 on this route in J?

Unfortunately the food wasn't that good, seat is spacious nonetheless. However, legroom is blocked by the IFE box for those sitting on the aisle. Legroom best for window and middle seats.

Someone just posted a trip report on his blog:
http://charlesryan77w.blogspot.sg/20...ing-787-9.html
I flew this particular flight before - when it was still a 777 operation.
The seats are basically more like premium economy and US domestic first class seats. Nothing fancy! There is one free meal with a free beverage of your choice. I recommend ordering the premium meal, which is actually quite nice and worths the extra $$$. The early morning departure is also pretty brutal, but HKG is ridiculously quiet at these hours. Since you live in HK, you can easily order a taxi or car service to the airport in the early hours. You don't have to waste a night of hotel.
Don't expect much! You will be fine!
