Is this just me or is this not really a great sale?

All relative, I guess. Some CW fares to the US seemed pretty good, and I'm content with the fare I got ...

Oddly, for the latter period the N fare with a 7 day AP is more expensive than the V fare with no AP. Looks like another filing glitch to me.

Is CW the 'proper' sale or are they just price-matching Virgin's USA sale at the moment? I'll hold off for a while if there's likely to be a full CW & F sale to follow.

Prices to the US have definitely dropped. I was looking at MFU return in club from London, for new year in New York. Two days ago it was over £1000 + 20k miles, today its £828 + 20k. I've just booked MFU return in 1st for £1512 + 40k (LHR-JFK, out in Dec, back in Jan), I can't be certain if its a reduction as I didn't check pre-sale, but it's not overpriced, especially as even if you don't have the miles, with the 30% extra miles purchase offer, and with 17290 miles earned for the journey, the remaining 22710 miles would cost me £290, hence an all cash price of about £1802 for LHR-JFK return in 1st, as against the cheapest advertised (sale period) return to JFK of £6200. Seems ok.
I'm an ex-GGL long term gold, now silver and retired, whose aim in life is to bleed down those avios points as slowly as possible, whilst maintaining silver status, hence my long term survival plan is based on flying several MFUs per year for fun, (where I typically win back half the miles used), with miles use supplemented by occasional purchases, and points topped up by an occasional LGW-AMS or similar return in club. This LHR-JFK in 1st gets me half way to next years renewal and burns few enough miles that I reckon I can continue flying long haul in club or 1st as often as I want for the rest of my life for a few hundred pounds per year plus the cost of WTP or the occasional sale-time discount club ticket. It seems to be working anyway. I stopped travelling on business in 2009, and still have my status, my miles, and more than enough long haul holidays in flat bed seats.

Importantly, this means that the rules are different. The "ticket by" date of the current CW sale fare is 2 September 2013. Travel dates are also fairly limited.

I am planning a trip to OSL-BOS using the CW sale. I am planning to fly BA on the outbound leg (hopefully using UuA in F), but on the home bound leg I see that it is possible to try an AA 777 flight from JFK with a connecting domestic F flight from BOS for about the same amount of money as the CW sale.
1) Are CW sales fares eligable for UuA to F if there are available seats and
2) will flying AA and BA genrate the same amount of tire points and avios?
