I have now called the British Executive Club 4 times in the last 4 days and each time I have been told "no", you cannot change your booking as you have flown the first segment...........what a shame if some people have managed to change it. It's not fair as there is loads of availiability, I said I would even fly economy instead of club I wan't to retrun earlier that much and they said no. Really not fair if some people are being allowed to do this......

My suggestion is to call, call, and call again until you get the answer that you seek

Seems that it can be done according to some agents....

Maybe only You First and GGL agents have been told about the change?

Canceling a redemption within 24hrs of booking even if within 24hrs of departure

I recently managed to cancel a redemption flight within 24hrs of departure because i was still within 24hrs of making the booking.

Some sort of 24hrs cool off period or something similar. I tried doing it again but the agent hadn't heard of it!

Note: This is only relevant now that you can redeem a flight within 24hrs of its departure

Anyone else hear of this?

Hi all

Apologies for my well noted silence on this subject - there was no intent to avoid this thread - I missed it in part and when I did see it I wanted to be able to confirm definitively what has been going on. The following is hopefully some clarity and an update on some other redemption queries I have seen on various threads.

Clarity on what has been changed recently
- MFU bookings can now be made within 24 hours
- you can now MFU an existing booking within 24 hours
- MFU bookings can now be changed after your journey has commenced (if the commercial portion of your ticket permits changes) and you will retain your upgraded sector
- part flown bookings can be upgraded using BA Miles
- Part Cash Part Miles bookings can now be made within 24 hours
- standard redemption bookings can now be made within 24 hours
- Gold Upgrade for Two vouchers can now be processed within 24 hours
- Amex companion vouchers can now be booked within 24 hours

Changes to redemptions after travel
Changes to redemption bookings after the journey has commenced is something we hope to change in the very near future but we have not implemented this officially as yet which is why there is no update to the Ts&Cs or communication around this. I did issue communications to our service centres advising that if we received requests from members wishing to change the time/date after they have flown that we should be flexible where possible. It sounds as though this is where the confusion has arisen and I will re-issue this comms again but if you have any specific outstanding issues please PM me your details and I will do what I can to help.

Please note - you need to contact your own service centre to do this for the moment.

Miles for Upgrade for Trade Bookings

Just a short update to say that this has not gone away and we are continuing to work on a solution to bring this to you as soon as possible. As soon as we have an update I will let you know.

If there are any other questions around redemption please do let me know. Also, if you feel I have overlooked a thread it won't be on purpose, we are very busy in the Executive Club team working on improvements such as those mentioned above so please do send me a gentle reminder to my inbox as some of you have done today and I will post as soon as I am able to.

We are working on some things that I hope you will like and I will do everything I can to keep you involved along the way.

Best regards

Nicci

Thanks for the update Nicci !

In regards to the above, what you are saying is while it is not an official change in policy (yet) in practice they will do it, is that correct?

I was actually told twice now over the phone that this is now the case, and the agents I spoke to seemed very confident the rules have officially changed...

Hi clubman

It's not an official change YET. As soon as it is I will let you all know and update the Ts&Cs.

Best regards

Nicci

Hi Nicci

Please correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding of this is that you CAN change MFU bookings after the outbound has been flown, but you CANNOT change those bookings which are 100% redemption, yet.

Another query which has a bearing on us at LGW especially. You commented in another thread yesterday that TPs and miles can be earned on upgrades done at the airport. This is completely new to how it used to be. Can you confirm all the info re. this so that we can be use to give the passengers correct details when they upgrade.

Thanks, SG x

Hi sunrise girl

As per my post, you CAN amend the date and time of a booking you have upgraded using BA Miles after you have travelled. You CANNOT amend standard redemption bookings officially as yet.

With regards to the awarding for airport upgrades, we do not have the technical ability to credit the BA Miles and Tier Points for the upgraded cabin when you do this at the airport. I realise that this is causing some frustration amongst our members and so I have said here that if you contact your service centre after you have travelled we will add this to your account PROVIDED your booking was not originally a redemption booking.

I hope this helps but let me know if this is still unclear.

Best regards

Nicci

Thank you for the clarification. It is so frustrating when different agents give different answers - now it is understandable.

When changes to redemption bookings after the journey has commenced is implemented will it apply to existing bookings?

Hi,
Can youhelp. I am new to the forum and am trying to get a message to Nicci from BA Executive Club which was posted on July 23 2009. Basiclly, due to sickness I may have to change my redmption flight once I hav started my journey. The North American You First says this can't be done. Nicci's post suggested it could and I would like some clariication. Sorry if I have posted wrongly but I can'f find Nicci's orginal post to send a message to her.
Regards,
LLewellyn

Welcome to FlyerTalk, llewellyn. I've moved your post into this thread as it is a better place to air your enquiry.

Seems that North American YouFirst is right, assuming your flight is a "pure" redemption flight (and not one where you paid for a lower class ticket and upgraded it with miles).

As promised, I just moved our 241 return JFK-LHR from the 735pm flight to the 620pm flight tomorrow. Greyed out in MMB but a quick call to YouFirst saw it changed in less than 2 minutes. No charge as a Gold.
