Yes, I mentioned earlier, they can be changed after first leg flown as well.

Would this potential change also apply to one-way Partner Awards ?

For instance a purely hypothetical one-way trip from YVR to BKK on CX, with a stopover in HKG.

The trip is originally booked as YVR to HKG on November 10th, and then HKG to BKK on November 17th. After flying the first segment YVR to HKG I decide that I am having too much fun in Hong Kong and want to extend the stopover by a week.

Can I change the date of the HKG to BKK flight to November 24th ? Assuming award seat availability of course.

Many thanks for all your wisdom.

Arrow Just Confirmed Again

Another YF agent just confirmed again what I was originally told:

Date/time changes are now fine up to 24hrs before any booked flight, before and after outbound travel has commenced. This applies to all miles redemptions, inc. BA, partners, Amex vouchers and PCPM. Rules for MFU and GUF2, etc., are governed by the underlying fare rules.

The strange thing is BA's official silence on this, both by lurkers here and, as far as I am aware, by the written regulations remaining unchanged.

I woulds also like to know the answer to this one, save that in my case a "through flight" would change to a "stopover" if the non partner flight was advanced by a day and the BA flight was not.

I was specifically told "Yes", although the official silence on all of these changes dictates that it's best to call and check for yourself.

If I am interpreting this correctly, any changes have to be made 24 hours before the flight that you want to change.

So in your example if you wanted to change the date of the 2nd segment you would probably have to do it before you flew the 1st segment. Which I believe has always been possible ?

Again, any idea on whether the US OnBusiness program participates in this nice rule amendment??? I'd call, but that usually doesn't mean anything.

Official silence normally indicates that BA know that it really depends which agent you speak to

Cheers,

I have called the US BAEC office twice and both times have been assured that I CANNOT change a return booking once the first segment is used.

Because the tax savings on a return booking amount to over $300 for our two tickets I decided to wait for a day or two hoping to hear more from BA.

During the couple of days I waiting the redemption availability (which only opened this week for July 2010) has disappeared!

Big error on my part. I have had to book flights three days later than my preferred date which will cost me way more in hotel fees than the $300 I might have saved.

I have a 241 coming up in August in F. I don't need to change it but there is plenty of availability on my route so will try to for the hell of it, after the outbound, and report back.

Well I just booked it in Nov last year to take advantage of the half miles sale, so the dates (and indeed destination) are just random anyway.

Correct. In response to my question about a redemption booking:

Dear Smirnie,

You can now amend a BA Miles ticket pre-travel; as you mention this must be done 24hrs prior to departure of the flight you want to amend. You can also apply MFU up until check in opens.

The 24 hour rule applies to the local departure time of the flight.

Kind Regards
