"Thank you Mr G-BOAC. No really, thank you" (OB/EC Double/Upgrade Offers)

Quote:
Dear Mr G-BOAC,

We believe it's important to recognise ongoing loyalty. That's why we'd like to give you the opportunity to enjoy an upgrade and earn bonus BA Miles when you book and fly with us over the coming months.
It's our way of saying thanks. Twice.

---
Book and complete a full fare return flight before 31 March 2009 and receive a one-way upgrade on your choice of either the outbound or return journey.

Book an eligible Club World return and be upgraded to First, or be upgraded to Club Europe when you book an eligible return in Euro Traveller.

There's no limit on the amount of upgrades you can have, as long as you're booking eligible flights. And of course, you'll also earn more Tier Points equivalent to your cabin upgrade.

This offer is subject to availability so contact your travel agent or call us now on 0800 x to secure your upgrade.
To qualify for your bonus BA Miles you'll need to register first.

Then simply book and complete two or more long-haul return flights before 31 March 2009
(or three or more short-haul return flights).

Of course the more you travel, the more BA Miles you'll collect. Four return flights in Club World could earn you up to 100,000 bonus BA Miles, giving you a long-haul flight to Australia.*

Is there a friend or colleague we should be thanking as well? Share this opportunity with them now.

I hope you can take advantage of these special Executive Club offers and in doing so, accept our thanks.

Warm regards,

James Hillier
Executive Club Manager

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Important note: Please make sure you read the full terms and conditions of this promotion.

This promotion applies to certain fare types only on services operated by British Airways Plc and does not include flights operated by any franchisees, code share partners or oneworld Alliance members with the exception of Iberia and Qantas for certain flights as specified in the terms and conditions. Travel on BA Cityflyer is included. Tickets must be purchased and ticketed in the UK or Republic of Ireland and all travel must start and finish in the UK or Republic of Ireland. Eligible flights must be booked and completed within the promotional period.

The following routes are excluded for the upgrade to Club Europe: Belfast (BHD), Cork (ORK), Moscow (DME) and St. Petersburg (LED). Bookings for the upgrade cannot be made on ba.com but must be made with a travel agent or by contacting BA on the above mentioned telephone number and the upgrade must be requested at the time of booking.

Pre-registration is required for the bonus BA Miles only. Qualifying flights are return flights and sectors ex UK or the Republic of Ireland as specified in the full terms and conditions for this offer.

A service fee may apply per person per ticket at the time of booking. Flights and upgrades are subject to availability and capacity control at the time of booking and may be fully booked during peak periods. Terms and conditions apply, please visit www.ba.com/businessoffer for full details.

*Reward flights are subject to applicable taxes, fees, charges and surcharges.
And minutes before, the OB offer too:

Quote:
Dear Mr G-BOAC,

To reward you and your colleagues even more for booking
and flying with us, we've two ways of saying thank you: a free upgrade to First or Club Europe and double On Business Points.

We'll help make your company's travel budget go further with double On Business Points when you fly before 31 March 2009.

Simply register today quoting your On Business number.

Of course, the more you fly, the more points you earn. For example, two return flights to the USA in Club World could earn you up to 5,600. That's enough for a return flight to Frankfurt in Club Europe.

Book and complete a full fare return flight before 31 March 2009 and your colleagues can also enjoy a one-way upgrade on their choice of outbound or return journey.

They can upgrade from Club World to First, or from Euro Traveller to Club Europe.

Both classes offer enhanced levels of privacy and comfort so travellers can work or relax
at our airport lounges and on-board.

To secure your upgrade when booking your flights, contact your travel agent or call us now
on 0844 x.

And because your colleagues can still earn BA Miles when they fly, our double thank-you means double the benefits for you both.

Warm regards,

Emma White
On Business Manager

I was about to post same and point out that, despite receiving the personalised email, I was told I am ineligible for teh BA Miles offer. Eh? Nothing in the T&Cs that would explain that. G-BOAC, did you try registering?

Yes - registered no problems for the EC one. The OB one for some reason (with all their promos) you put in your OB number and company name (why? I don't have to put my name in for EC promos) and then it tells you 'thanks, one of the OB team will process that within 24 hours'. Why can't it be instant/automated like the EC ones? Very odd.

I used http://www.britishairways.com/travel...ignCode=UK1005 which is from the http://www.ba.com/businessoffer link above. I also wonder why both T&Cs link to that same URL yet it only relates to the EC not OB offer!

This is the most sarcastically-entitled BA promo I've ever seen (no really, it is).

Would you believe it - I booked two return long haul flights about three minutes before that offer came in asking you to register to be eligible for bonus miles when you book and complete two long haul flights by 31st March.

Doh!

Never mind, win some, loose some!

This is not just any promotion, this is an old promotion which has been jazzed up with some marketing slogans and will not benefit half of our customers.

This is not just marketing spin, it is marketing spin dreamed up by our marketing agents who are afraid that they will lose their jobs in the current economic climate if they don't pull their socks up when creating our slogans.

If BAEC actually offered the chocolates alone, I'd be more than happy to accept

Not targeted, but ba.com rejected my companion. Email has already gone to BAEC - let's see what happens.

The perils of bottom bucket discounted non-flexible fares that apparently generates no profit for the airline means I get back just £97 of £1637...

Not sure whether it classes as sarcastic or just snide, crass and ill mannered.

I was absolutely amazed to see such an appallingly worded e-mail, whoever developed it and whoever authorised it should be sacked.

After the disastrous results for December BA should try to be polite - in all ways - to all of its customers.
