LOL, of course. Why didn't I think of that?

How about aubergine, courgette and capsicums!?

I recently had the first menu LHR-BOS, and was most disappointed.

The sage derby was a brave experiment which failed badly: it just tasted bad -- and I like my cheese!

I was silly enough to ask for the turkey: it was dreadful, with an awful gravy.

I played it safe with dessert and asked for the cheese.

It has to be said, the CW menu is generally quite uninspired. In fact, flying out from BOS in the evenings: the food in the lounge is always superior to what is on offer in the air.

True. I am rarely excited about the food on BA. The wine list is nothing special either. I think they should upgrade their food and wines.

Aubergine and courgette are British English*, but I've never heard a British English speaker use the word capsicum (for "pepper", presumably).

* or indeed, French

I think they do a decent job in Club of providing 'everyday' drinking wines. They are rarely impressive (though I recall a Oz Shiraz in 2007 that was good) but do the job well and without causing any offense (unlike the hideous Club Europe choices).

The catering does need some work. That said, this menu shows some signs of ambition and seasonality a step on from the sad piece of beef with potatoes/cottage pie/cruddy stir fry prevelant a year ago. Not convinced about beetroot with smoked salmon though.

We're on the 297 tomorrow and thanks to CIHY I was already aware of the menu. Being more of a "traditional" (think simple, both my eating and my brain ), I'm bringing my own favourite cheese and biscuits on board along with other snacks as I can honestly say that I don't think I'll even try anything but the salmon, the menu really does sound disgusting.

You can hardly go wrong with smoked salmon, and the turkey wasn't too bad actually.
BA has never been the gourmet's choice, but I think it's unbelievable that they throw you a packet of nuts with your drink. What other airline does that?
I was recently on a Swiss flight and got the nuts warmed in a nice bowl.
What prevents BA from doing the same?

Ah but was it "real Turkey" or that processed stuff?

"You can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all the time".

One could almost be forgiven if you thought old Abe Lincoln was talking about airline food when he said those immortal words.
I don't think one can complain too much about CW food and wine. Sods law dictates that you are bound to choose the wrong option of the choices on offer anyway. Most of the time it's edible and does it's job of relieving you of your hunger and the odd time you may even get the odd memorable dish....all very similar to eating out at a run of the mill restaurant really.

As for the wines.....Like the majority of CW passengers I am no expert and more used to the 'weekly bargain' offered in the supermarket rather than reaching for the good bottles on the top shelf. I have never tasted a poor wine in any long haul Business Class cabin and I doubt I ever will unless it is off, even the stuff in Y isn't all that bad.

No, I managed to get those quite early on... I think because they are more recognisable visually... herbs are a bit more obscure (for ages I just thought that Chilantro was a herb that we just didn't get int his country... )

Cold nuts in a bag pre-dated WW...
