New BA App for iPhone/iPod Touch

Any iPhone/Touch owners here? If so you'll be able to get the free BA App later today when the 2.0 software launches.

It looks like it'll just give you quick access to timetables and arrivals/departures. Hopefully they'll get some kind of booking integration in future.

I found it on the iTunes store. But it should all be live later today!

Here's a screenshot showing the features here: http://i33.tinypic.com/mwczh1.jpg

Just downloaded it. And super monkey ball...

Looks like a good idea though. We'll find out when the new software's up - maybe around midnight or whenever New Zealand wakes up with their new iPhones before the rest of the world.

Yes super monkey does look great! Also noticed an App called ForeFlight. I guess if it does its job we should be able to predict weather delays/cancellations and switch our airports accordingly - must be better than BA texting you 2 hours before departure!

The App Store section isn't showing up in the UK store yet but if you want to take a look and download the 'BA Flights' app - free and a tiny 0.4MB - you can get it here [iTunes link].

I presume you deliberately picked a handle 1 letter away from an established BA board poster.

Sorry, but not too clever IMO.

Agreed - poor form; I did think it was a Smirnoff post, and then spotted the low post count.

No way not deliberate, never even known till you just said now! If it offends I will change it. I have used this name elsewhere... just a pure coincidence.

ok, fair enough, I take it back then and welcome to FT!

Up to you, but changing it may prevent any confusion.

A scoop :)

Guys,

An exlusive 'interview' with the guys in BA behind this....

Kind regards,

Dilly

"Hi, well spotted with our iPhone application, there were posts on FlyerTalk within 5 minutes of us knowing it was live.

These are the details of what the iPhone app does (my favourite is saving the arrivals and departures you are tracking as a favourite)

Arrivals and departures
This program will give you up-to-the-minute information on all our flights' arrivals and departure times. So whether you are catching a flight or meeting someone at the airport, you'll be updated.

You can also save all of your favourite flights so that it is easier than ever to keep updated on their progress.

Timetables
With this program, you'll be able to choose your origin and destination city and view the flight schedule on any given day."

Would be great of you could do the full MMB (including checking in and choosing seats) on the iPhone!

My iPhone is just re-syncing my music after the update, so in a few mins I'll be able to road test it for real.

But, yes, full MMB and OLCI from the handset would be great features for a v2.0 product!

Other than that a big to the BA web team. With all the stuff you've been doing to the site itself, and now an iPhone app, you've been doing some really excellent work recently!

I'm not brave enough to try the new software which is lurking on Apple's servers: I'm waiting for the update to show up in iTunes.

It's great to see BA embracing this platform. Hopefully, in a later update, we could see boarding passes which could be scanned off the screen. It's doable at the moment but if they could be saved in the app it'd be great.

But it's great to see this - stick with it Dilly.

I've loaded it on my iPhone 3G. When I get some service or near a hotspot (), I'll report back on it
