Arguably, the most important question of all...

Which of the T5 lounges lay on carrot cake/victoria sponge cake? Inquiring minds need to know, etc etc

Welcome to flyertalk and the BA forum!

Nothing has been announced yet ( not even a rumor about which routes or the exact timescale). I doubt anything would be announced until we are into May but as they say on the news, stay tuned for futher developments.

I am thinking about a CW fare in early July with BA but do not know if the T4 flights will move by then ( I would be connecting from EDI) and I have a flight to PHX in August ( again I have to book a connecting flight from EDI and if it is in T4 then I have to book a longer connecting time)

Regards

FWIW, I have someone at BA checking whether I need to make changes to my ClubWorld flight to Dulles late this summer. I'm flying in from Glasgow and don't meet the minimum connection time requirements if the flight is leaving from T4. I'll post if I hear anything concrete.

T5 worked for me on Friday evening. Landed at 2148, pulled on stand at 2155 at T5B. Jetty was attached at 2157 and I was on the HEX at 2209 which arrived at 2235 into Paddington. Home by 2300 - excellent.

Bar an initial temporary flooding problem very early on, the F lounge (there is only one - at the Galleries South complex) has always been open.

The programme below is on Radio 4 at 8pm on Tuesday 29 April 2008. This should also be available on Listen Again and can be downloaded as a podcast after broadcast.

First T5 Arrival this morning.

Landed 09.03
Parked at stand 09.08
Jetty connected 09.11
No que at Iris but about 30 sec wait for the database
Hex at 09.30

This was very good

T5 Arrivals hall was deserted and calm. This is a Monday morning where I imagine lots of weekly commuters should arrive?

Hi,

I arrived last night at T5 from EDI.
Long taxi from Rwy 27L , all the way past B before waiting for a couple of minutes and turning onto Gate 5.
Gidance systeem was on but the jetty took a couple of minutes to lower to fit the A319.
Shortish walk to baggage reclaim but a bit of a wait to get bags ( and not a lot of seats).
Then it is a long walk to the taxi rank ( or Hex).
Taxi rank seemed a bit disorganised and the fare to the Marriott was £13 ( £11 plus £2 extras)

Regards

Bet you were popular with the driver.

Generally, I'd rather set fire to my hair and put it out with a shovel than attempt to ask a taxi driver at LHR to take me to an LHR hotel.

They can be a bit grumpy about it alright ... however they're usually okay with it because they can tell the taxi dispatcher that they're only going on a short trip and get a pass that allows them to skip the queue when they come back. I regularly get a cab from T4 down to Feltham Station for about £13-15 and no cabbie has attacked me with a shovel yet ... but they do always make sure to talk to the taxi dispatcher before leaving the rank and get some form of card off them.

In my experience was really makes them mad is if you ask them to go just outside this short area ... Not sure what the boundaries are exactly but some cabbies aren't too happy with fares to Richmond/Ealing/Chiswick type areas as I don't think they qualify for the "get out of jail free card"

Hi,

I was following the dispatcher ( I said to him the Bath Road Marriott) and apparently I walked past a free taxi ( i thought there was someone in it) and when I got to the taxi the taxi driver said I walked past my taxi! but the taxi diver was fine with it as he did get as a pass.

Oral Evidence Session On Heathrow Terminal 5

BA and BAA are to answer questions re Terminal 5. I believe you can listen to these meetings live online. Should be interesting.

Wednesday 7th May at 2.45 p.m.

The House of Commons Transport Committee is to hold a one-off evidence session on the recent problems experienced at Heathrow Terminal 5. Representatives of airport and airline staff, BAA and British Airways will give evidence to the Committee. Further details will be announced nearer the time.
