Yes it is.

The only fees you have to pay at the airport are on arrival if you do not have a visa.

I'm going to Kenya in Jan and can't get good information on whether we can get a visa on entry at the airport. We are US citizens. Does anyone have good recent information.

The Kenyan US Embassy website is confusing. I tried emailing and didn't get a reply.

I hate having to get a visa ahead of time. I don't like someone else having my passport!

You'll be fine for the $50 visa on arrival. :)

Agreed - I think the Imigration staff prefer you paying on arrival - justifies their job.

Thanks! Both of you guys are British (from the location) (and I am in the BA Executive Club forum) and Kenya is/used to be Commonwealth (don't know whatever happened to the Commonwealth). Is this true for US citizens, too. The answer seemed to be yes, I'm just double checking.

Yes this is true for US Citizens.

Visas are now required by almost all visitors to Kenya, including Europeans, Australians, New Zealanders, Americans and Canadians, although citizens from a few smaller Commonwealth countries are exempt. Visas are valid for three months from the date of entry and can be obtained upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi for US$50 for a single-entry visa, double for multiple entries.

If you get off the plane quickly, it is easier to buy your visa on arrival than sending off through the post in advance.

No problem at all. There is a desk clearly marked for visa applications, and they hand you a form to fill out. Hand in the form and the $50 (USD is fine) and you're in. I'm a US citizen and I do it all the time.

BA crews when coming through the cabin with landing cards for NBO ask if you require a visa and hand these forms out to those who require them - this saves time at the visa desk at NBO.
For info it is the leftmost desk in the immigration hall at NBO and they also put the entry stamp on so there is no need to go to another desk after that.
