Expect Delays ex LHR/LGW (and possibly most of UK) thoughout 20/12, 21/12 & 22/12

Morning,

Due to heavy freezing fog at Heathrow and Gatwick (currently 100 meters visibility at Heathrow and 250 meters at Gatwick), I doubt normal operations will be possible for most of the day as the landing and departing rates for aircraft (takeoffs and landing per hour), will be pritty much halfed.

(And possibly the rest of the UK also)

The current forcast I have for Heathrow is for the visibility to start to clear from 7-8 am up towards 2000 meters, but it may not be untill 1pm. (Met forcasts can be wrong!)

So if you are traverling today, be safe on the roads, and sit back and relax in the lounges, as you may be there for some time!

Cheers

NOTE: No offical word from BA or BAA yet, but I guess its still early.

Bad weather travels fast. It's a tad muggy and drizzly in Sydney.

All UK bound flights from MLA are being held here. Looks like up to two hours delayed departures.

I am sitting in the Domestic Terraces after arriving from BAH - could not see the ground until the wheels touched down - but a perfect landing.

Awful, horrible lines at security through Flight Connections - took 1 hour 15 minutes to get through from Terminal 4 to Terminal 1.
Waiting for my BA 1388 which is now posting a 2-hour delay for departure
4 flights already cancelled.
Well... time for a shower and a cup of coffee (while waiting for my 130,000 bonus miles to post )

Am in the LGW Lounge now, and it's completely white outside - you can't see a thing except for thick fog.

They've called a few cancellations already - Jersey, Isle of Man, and lots of delays - Dublin, Inverness, Newquay.

Honestly - November weather on the run up to Christmas - so after dealing with the incompetence of the BAA you are going to hit the airlines at their level worst. You all have my sympathies! We have already been told that there are going to be delays.

Still if I am delayed enough - I won't be within hours to fly on Xmas Day

Then I will have to buy and cook a turkey.

(Thank Heavens for Harrods!)

Virtually all the short haul flights from LGW are showing delays now.

The domestics seems worst hit - GLA delayed for 2 hours. NQY is now showing a a hour 10 min delays (the poor incoming passengers have been spinning around above Sussex for the past hour listening to the propellors).
