Angry re: BA Miles Devalued/OneWorld Bonuses??

OK I haven't posted on the board in quite some time, but I've been really upset the last few years at how BA has devalued our miles in the EC -- reward mileage amounts doubled, in some cases TRIPLED... I'm sure people have complained rather vehemently, but they don't seem to care, do they?
Australia F-class from the U.S. over the Atlantic used to be 240,000 miles;
now it's 720,000 miles?? Over the Pacific used to be 120,000 on QF, now
it's 240,000 - arghhhhhhh! Spontaneous devaluation of miles.. miles me
wonder why I ever got involved with the EC.

Also, anybody know of any OneWorld or BA bonus mileage promos that would add large chunks of miles to an EC account? I remember, not that many years ago, they had a OneWorld promo that would afford you up to 50,000 or even 100,000 bonus miles....

Maybe that has more to do with QF. They have recently raised all their rewards

Absolutely! (No pun intended )

If you think the BA programme is mean, check out QF.

http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/...s/pointsTables

A F award from MEL/SYD-LHR is now 192,000 miles one way making a return a whopping 384,000 miles.

Although QF have raised their stakes, they do have one big advantage. They give 100% miles on discount economy flights with Qantas. That includes codeshares.

Which is, presumably, why it takes costs more miles to get a flight ? Swings and roundabouts...

(or is that planes and helicopters ?)

True! There is one other benefit although it only applies to flights over the 1000 mile mark, silver customers get 25% bonus miles on all BA, AA and QF flights, gold 50% and platinum 100%. Better than the 25% silver bonus and 50% bonus for gold customers on BA and QF flights only that BA offers.

Mind you there are advantages to both programmes, and most importantly it depends on where you live as to which programme you are most likely to join.

Actually, for some of us there is one outstanding extra benefit from QF. You get credit towards status for all paid BA and QF flights, and for most other OW flights. As far as I am concerned, I wouldn't care if they gave 0 miles on discount fares as long as they keep on crediting status.

However, they give very little! Only on QF do you get full economy status credits on an H or above fare, and thats only for domestic fares. All other fares, i.e. QF international/Other OW domestic & international only yeild the reduced status credits unless purchasing a full Y class fare. This is where the advantage swings in the other direction. It takes 70 short haul sectors in discount economy, or 28 pond hops to get gold before any OW benefits kick in and 60 short haul, 24 pond hops to retain. Not a pleasant thought!

It's 50% of full economy earning, so it's much better than nothing! (And better even than 25% in FF schemes which award status by miles earned.)
