I have a few flights coming up on BA which I'll wish to credit to my AA account (I'm a defector to AAdvantage). In the past, I've had problems with the number not being changed over from the BA one and had to chase it up after the fact, which is a chore. Anyone know if this is still a problem?
Also, am I right to think that I should continue to keep my BA number in the booking and change to the AA one at or after check-in, so I can use OLCI? I imagine it's still the case that OLCI at 24hrs can only be accessed through my BA number, not the AA one.
Call them up and ask them to make your AA number the primary one in the booking. Then, when it comes to OLCI, log in with your BA executive Club number, and search for the booking with the booking refrence. As you will be logged into the Exec. Club, you can still do OLCI at 24hrs pre-flight. On OLCI, however, you will get the option, via a small drop down menu, to keep your AA number as the primary in the booking (ie. to gain points) or you can change it to any OneWorld programme.
You have to get BA to remove your EC no. entirely and replace it with the AA one, otherwise it will not work. The system can hold 2 (or more?) FF nos. and you don't want your PNR contaminated with the BA one.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work. It'll always credit to the 1st number (at least if it's a BA one) no matter what you chose on at OLCI or what's printed on your boarding pass. I've had to chase up BA EC in the U.S. twice for this. Painful process.

Interesting.
My problem is similar - a 6-segment ticket with 5 BA sectors (4 mainline and 1 HP codeshare) as well as 1 HP sector not available as BA codeshare. The longhauls and HP are in F.
The single HP sector gets me no tier points and normal miles. I want to credit it to VS who have a double miles promotion with HP and will give me a tier point or two. 'Can't be done' said the BA person.
I don't think I can give my VS number for the whole booking and will feel a little weird getting an HP number and inserting that!

Same thing in reverse. I've had check-in or the BA lounge change my QF number to my BA number, and the points go straight into the QF account as if nothing had been done.
However, the unintended upside (if you have a BP that now has the desired collecting account printed on it) is that you may end up with points in both schemes, eventually. But it requires patience. Nevertheless, you would have thought that this unintended effect would be enough in itself to persuade BA to fix this part of DCS.
