GGL type benefits elsewhere

In debate with a colleague I wondered if there were any other significant FF schemes which offer GGL line and Joker style benefits, the Crown Jewels in the BAEC. Ta.

I would say that M&M HON Circle does a good job versus BAEC GGL. Certainly the 6 upgrade vouchers and the additional assistance on the ground at most/all airports is a great benefit, I understand. Also, additional award availability is provided as long as there is revenue seats available on any LH group flight. I would suggest that it is, overall, a better proposition versus BAEC GGL, but it is significnatly more difficult to achieve - GGL is relatively easy in comparison - you need to spend serious money to achieve it. (That being said, SEN is a very acceptable status, and is much more achievable for me based on my flying pattern and cheaper tickets as I refrain where possible from choosing fully flex tickets when they are not required).

I'd also say that HON is actually heads and shoulders above GGL (but arguably quite a bit harder to get for most people). AF-KL has now launched the 'Platinum Ultimate' status. It misses the formal perks of GGL but is actually quite a lot more thorough on the 'soft perks' with facilitated transfers and escorting in terminals, dedicated personal referent, reserved areas within lounges, top priority for empty rows onboard, etc.

Various other programmes have their own 'super schemes', AA Concierge Key probably being the most familiar of them amongst BAEC members.

The trouble with the AFKL Ultimate program is that it has a major consistency problem. Perks aren't clear or there is contradicting information on what exactly they are and in which situation they are provided, and then there is a *major* consistency problem where perks aren't delivered at all despite claims to their existence. If you read through the last 10 or so pages of the thread on the AFKL forum by clicking here you'll see that members are ultimately frustrated and actually start jumping ship.

As far as I know, the AA, DL and UA programs deliver similar benefits to GGL and partly even to HONCircle.

SQ PPS Club.

A big difference from BA GGL is that you can't do an equivalent of cheap TP runs to get it.

It is solely based on the spend in J and F on SQ/Silkair only (Y/PE on SQ/Silkair don't count).

And benefits aren't that good with PPS. HON is better.

Anything SQ offers is strict, inflexible and not attractive like the airline commercial policies itself. I wouldn't spend my money to have a status with SQ @:-)

Indeed. But their FF redemption table is excellent for Middle East to Europe/vice versa in J on *A. And for that reason they stay top of my list for redemptions using SPG points. Their KrisFlyer service desk is also very flexible with changes and add ons to these redemptions.

It's OK when you use them because you want to use them (rather than some kind of a TP run equivalent or a money saving measure) and they give you 100% extra baggage allowance because the worst aspect of SQ to me is the poor baggage allowance

Otherwise, kind of pointless when you are already flying cash F/J anyway.
