Club Europe Catering Guide 2017.

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering, introduced on Sunday 26 March 2017 and due to end on Tuesday 11 September 2018, based on 3 zones. A new Club Europe catering product is due to be launch on Wednesday 12 September 2018, and this is based on 4 bands. The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that there was an increase in food offered on some combinations shortly after the start-up, so the more recent photos may be the best place to start. The previous shorthaul catering guide, now locked but which had the previous 4 band system, is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the pre-ordered versions - which are VLML (Lacto-ovo), AVML (Asia) and VGML (Vegan) . There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, LCY+STN. Last update: 833

Note posts before 1-832 are typically the April 2017 menu. 833 and above is from the menu for May 2017.

Yes - no scones. Replaced with a piece of Victoria Sponge I think. Choice of sandwiches or Ploughman's salad.

Flew AGP-LGW yesterday. Was actually unaware of these changes!

1130 departure so was expecting a brunch - ordered a LFML.

I was very impressed with the new service.

Pros:

- No need to find extra space to store a mini bottle of wine ad they now pour for you from a larger one
- Quality was excellent
- Proper starter, good portion size
- Better cup design (tall, less risk of spillage)
- Generous dessert portion

Cons:

- Seems to take quite a bit of crew time

I will post pics later on today!

Unlucky MAN/LBA
Do we need a dedicated thread to monitor the size of the boiled egg on the brunch plate? One plate seems to only have one eighth of an egg, whilst another has a half egg.

The butter in the latest photo is Elle et Vire. Admittedly, also French.

I hope you'll all agree this is a significant improvement on what used to be "Band 3".

Note that the previous post contains pictures of a LFML, not a standard meal. But having looked around mine was of a similar quality on the same crockery with the same size portions etc.

I have to say this does look quite good with some of our essential five a day! Have we all been misled by the panini discussion?

Haven't been following the thread. But definitely no panini on this flight, which was AGP-LGW (so a "Long" sector). Departure time was 1130, and was already braced for the disappointment of the dreaded old cold brunch.

There was a piece of cake with afternoon tea before (in a small box), so the scones haven't been replaced with anything, just removed.

To be fair, I don't think there was a big concern about the Long banded flights. The meal paul4040 posted above looks quite nice. I think the biggest problem is with the old band 3 flights that have fallen into the Medium category, those that will get the miniature salad thingy or the hot sandwich. There's no way that sandwich costs more than £2 to make so I think passengers on those flights have definitely been short-changed.

But hey ho, other airlines do exist.

Good improvement for the old band 3 (b) flights like Helsinki, Lisbon and Malaga then.

£2??? That's a huge overestimation. Thats more like the cost of the hot breakfast, the Galleries Club budget, per pax, or something like this.

I know you can buy those processed frozen panini's for €0.40 in Colruyt at twice the size. The few slithers of tomato cost pennies along with the industro-mozarella and there is only one painting of pesto. I would say its about 30-35 pence material cost.

And by the way, with regards to the President butter that Pucci mentioned. I noticed that the local branded butter where I have been staying was replaced by this and I enquired with the F&B Manager who told me its cheaper right now via the catering supplier. This is in Poland.

OK, I was being generous , I initially wrote £3, but that would be crazy! Anyway I feel vindicated that I described it as a 'cheap old sarnie' because it was obvious that was what it was going to be.

Such a shame because all band 3's used to have some decent meals at most times.
